“Very good but could be better”

We had 3 nights in a room on the executive floors and were very pleased with our room. To be fair there is too much hype in this hotel for my liking with about US$ 3.5 million of gold bars set into the floor of the entrance lobby and staff dressed as coldstream guards (with bearskins) standing guard outside with rifles! The hotel has a casino spread over 4 floors which we did not use which is open to all.Our room was very good, spacious and of course clean and the breakfast was also good but not exceptional.
The hotel lets itself down on small items, we asked for decaffinated coffee at breakfast and was told that an extra charge would apply! The first hotel shuttle leaves for the airport at 11am, so anyone with a morning flight has to use a taxi. Our room although on one of the executive floors was close to a function room which was used on two of our 3 nights by groups of people who made a lot of noise, shouting and attempting to sing around midnight whilst waiting for the lifts. Finally we were asked to fill in a satisfaction card on checking out with one of the staff reading every comment that I wrote whist I was writing. Any comments that were even marginally critical were questioned on the spot and excuses made in the hope that I would change my comments.
The great selling point for this hotel is its position. In 10 minutes easy walking you can be in the centre of Macau which is a Unesco world heritage site and well worth the visit. We understand that Macau would like to be viewed as the Las Vegas of the east, having visited Las Vegas I can say that they have a long way to go. Would I use this hotel again, yes, but I would moderate my expectations.

Room Tip: Buy a package that includes breakfast as otherwise it will be very expensive

“The best of it is location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

The hotel looks like some of age but the room is fine. Our deluxe room has a spacious bathroom and comfortable beds. The breakfast is just fine but enough, not very impressive. However, its location is what I love best. I could go to the center in a few minutes without taking buses though there are free shuttle buses. I took it easy to walk around old squares and streets at night as close to the hotel I stayed. The nights with lights is so beautiful. If I visit Macau again, I will still choose here to stay.

“Nice Stay Experience”

I stayed for 3 nights at this hotel with 9 family members, the staffs are friendly. The receptionist who handled me, speak very good english and give good directions to good local restaurant.
The room is standard but still clean..... the interior lobby is impressive with its 88 gold bars.

The hotel is within short walking distance to some of the great attractions such as Senado Square, Wynn Hotel, Grand Lisboa.....

“Wow... Exceeded all expectations”

The Grand Emperor Hotel casino is more of a boutique casino compared to alot of the others but for value it would be hard to beat, My girlfriend and I stayed three nights and from the moment we arrived by limo we were treated very well

We stayed on the executive level in a suite and were inpressed with the size of the room, TV, bathroom and bed, after Hong Kong everything seemed huge the bed was sensational, a king size with feather pillows that gave us a great nights sleep after being out all day,

The Royal kitchen restaurant on level 9 produced very good food with a good range of both western and asian dishes, the staff were abit over attentive and tended to hover, they were all very polite and couldn't do enough to make sure you were satisfied, there were a suitable amount of english speaking staff to enable us to communicate our needs with ease,

I would stay at this hotel again and recommend for a first time trip to Macau and wanting a central place to be able to walk around and look at the sights without splashing all your money then this hotel is a good place to start...

“Spacious room, good location and accessibility.”

The room is like what I see on webpage. New, modern and able to have free wifi in room. We brought our Ipad and no problem connecting. No bathtub but the giant powerful shower head made up for it. There is one non-smoking floor, the 17th floor. Book early for a non-smoking room. Even with the non-smoking signage in lift, customers or casino patrons blatantly ignored it.
Took the package deal and it's worth it. The buffet breakfast spread is so-so but make an effort to go for the buffet lunch, it's delicious - loved the sashimi.
New Yaohan is just next door but stocked mainly imported goods. Food court at 7th floor had reasonably priced meals. Average about HK$40-50 per meal.
