“Accessible to all Macau Attractions”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

The Hotel is located in the main avenue of Macau City. It is just accross the Star World Casino where a free shuttle service to Sea Port is stationed. Very near to all major hotels and casinos (Star World, MGM Grand, Wynn's, Lisboa, Grand Lisboa, etc.).

It is also walking distance to tourist spots: Senado Square, St. Paul's Ruins, Lighthouse, Fisherman's Wharf and Sea Port. About 30 minutes walk also to Macau Tower. Bus stop is near the Hotel.

We are planning to return to Macau this year and stay again at this Hotel. Highly recommendable.

“No second visit”

This is the second time I visit Macau this year but the first in this hotel... True enough that it is located at a very good location, but the service I may say is not good at all... The free breakfast was a very horrible... I only took 2 breakfast instead of my 5 coupons given..
I will definitely pay a bit more to stay in starworld or Wynn rather than going back there...
Just one basic sentence to describe this hotel : budget hotel with lots of call girls waiting for business.... Singapore Geylang

“Too expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

Compared to the new properties in Macau, this is an old hotel. The outside looks old and dirty. The lobby smelled like smoke. For the price we paid (~USD200), I was expecting something nicer but I guess all hotels in Macau have gotten a lot more expensive. At least this hotel is in a convenient location.

We booked 3 non-smoking rooms but when we arrived, we were told that there were no more non-smoking rooms. We had to go back and forth with the manager and eventually we were somehow able to get 3 non-smoking rooms. However, when I arrived in my room, it was filled with smoke. Because my kids were very tired by then, we decided to endure the smoke while they took their afternoon nap. Afterwards, we asked for a real non-smoking room and we were given a real non-smoking room on a higher floor. The rooms were generally clean so overall, it was okay.

For the price, I wouldn't go there again.

“Old and dirty hotel that is convenient location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

We booked Hotel President last minute thru macau.com and got a pretty good rate. It is definitely a 3 star hotel and nothing more.

We arrived after a long flight and long ferry ride. Check in was fine but don't expect the staff to understand much english. We booked a non-smoking room with a king size bed but ended up with a non-smoking room with 2 single beds. The only available king size bed was a smoking room on the 19th floor, we risked it anyways and luckily the room/hallway has no cigarette/smoke smell at all. However the carpets were dirty with patches of visible chunky dust all along the walls and furniture, during my stay I wore flip flops around the room. The bathroom had mold lined in the tiles! The bed is super hard and thin, you can literally feel the bed springs digging into your back. There is NO safe in the room, which is silly to me since you have to use the front desk's safe. The complimentary breakfast is super simple, almost a joke, definitely save your stomach for something better. The lobby needs a better sitting/waiting area, 2 arm chairs just don't cut it. Also be forewarned that in the night there are "girls" waiting in the lobby to pick up customers, it can be disturbing but Macau has this type of business everywhere.

I put the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door and it was continuously ignored since I would get woken up in the morning by housekeeping or I would come back from a day of sightseeing and noticed that my room was entered and made up. I don't know what is the point of that sign.

This hotel is pretty old compared to the other surrounding hotels. I think the only positive point about this hotel is its location. Wynn and Starworld are literally across the street while Hotel Lisboa is a short 10 minute walk away. Be warned that no taxis stop in front of this hotel because of the steep slanty driveway to get to the front of this hotel, walk to Wynn or Starworld to catch a taxi or a shuttle bus to your destination.
Next time I would definitely spend my money on a nicer and newer hotel, I will not be back at Hotel President.

“Never again!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

As there is no safe in the room, be sure to secure all your valuables before breakfast, as I had £2100 stolen from my bag even when the DO NOT DISTURB sign was on, and I was only gone 15 mins. The rooms are noisy, breakfast is appauling, service is terrible and a limited room food menu, when you can find someone who can speak English that is!
