This is the fourth time I've seen pandas at a zoo and they are always adorable. They make even the grumpiest person say "aaahhh." Although tickets are only good for a certain hour, we were able to buy tickets for the hour already in progress with no waiting - on a lovely Sunday afternoon no less. However, beware that there is a good chance you will just see a giant lump of fur. The earlier you go, the more active they are likely to be, but more active is a relative term. Pandas do a lot of eating and sleeping. In the 15 minutes we spent in the enclosure looking at them through glass, we watched them both eat for 5 minutes, then Xin Xin crawled away and took a nap with his but toward us. Kai Kai continued to eat for another 5 minutes and then she, too, crawled away for a scratch and a nap. The pandas are probably kept in the cooled inside enclosure most of the time. We visited in November and apparently it was still too hot for them to be moved to the outdoor pen. The entrance ticket is very cheap (only 10 MOP) so if the pandas aren't doing much you can't really complain. The bigger problem is that unless you are staying on Cotai Strip then you may have put some time into getting out to see them way out in Coloane. I also can't figure out why the water ponds in their enclosures were empty. But if you know what you are getting into, by all means go coo at the panda bears...they are adorable.
