“Great stay at Cordial Mogan Valle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We stayed at the Mogan Valle for 12 nights on a B&B basis from late Jan to Feb 2012.

We loved it and if the option was there would give it 4.5 out of 5 then that's how we'd have scored it.

Plus points were the friendly, helpful, courteous and humourous staff who could not have been more helpful. Breakfast was tremendous; 3 nice pools and the whole place was kept spotless.

We stayed in room H501 at the far north side. This was great but out of range of the free wi-fi which they say covers the whole site but does not, but easily picked up in the more central areas. Some contributors have said that the apartments need their decor refreshed and I can see that to an extent - ours was fine although as they were built some 4 or 5 years ago they are coming up to their first redecoration and we saw some being re-painted between re-lets.

The design - built into the side of the mountain - terraced down to give maximum sunlight to the balconies and pools is fascinating. The network of stairs and lifts makes the building seem like an enormous game of snakes and ladders. Probably for ease of access the second floor is probably the simplest to access.

Two single beds together can work as a double but there was no option to have double sized bed linen - which we have had elsewhere and seems something that this hotel could offer.

It's a 1 minute walk along a lovely level paved boulevard to the beach, marina, restaurants etc. We found this a very enjoyable stroll and a major plus point was the supermarket (Hiper Dino) being so close and so no real distance at all to carry shopping.

If we return to Puerto Mogan (which is lovely) we would be happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: The apartments all face south so the only issues to consider are how high up you want to be - and ho...

“Nice place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012 via mobile

This hotel is ok. It is starting to tear a bit, the location could be closer to the beach, the reception staff could be nicer, the kitchen could be more equipped and the beds could be more comfy. Other than that it is a nice and ok hotel. Puerto de Mogan is great and We will probably come back soon.

“Lovely, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012 via mobile

My husband and I stayed here on a week-long break in February. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment and chose to include breakfast. The apartment itself was lovely, modern decor and a spacious balcony. The view was mostly of the new shopping centre opposite although if we looked to the far left we could see the sea. The only criticism I would have of the apartment was that the cooking facilities were limited. There was no oven, just a two-ring hob and a microwave.
The location is as good as it could be for an apartment complex this size. I say this because the port of Mogan is an old fishing village and the area near the beach is taken up with shops and restaurants. The hotel is therefore a pleasant short stroll from the beach and port.
The breakfast was excellent, lots of different choices of fresh fruit, breads, omelettes, cold meats, cheese etc and would fill you up for the best part of the day.
There are three pools but I only used one and found it lovely, no fighting for a space and the astro-turf around the pool meant no burnt feet either which can be a problem in the Canaries.
The staff here were some of the friendliest and most helpful we have encountered and we have travelled to many holiday resorts. They are very keen to please and to make sure we were enjoying our stay.
This, coupled with the fact that we now feel, having stayed three times in Gran Canaria, that Puerto de Mogan is the best resort, means that we are very likely to return.

“Cordial Valle Mogan Appartments, Puerto Mogan, Gran Canaria”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My husband and I stayed here a week in mid-January, found the buffet meals excellent and the room very adequate. The pools were a bit cool for swimming, but of many activites possible, I enjoyed the Spanish lesson given by Roberto of the Animation Team. The 500 metre walk to the town for meals in one of the many harbour-side restaurants is pleasant but might become samey. If one can get to the centre of the island, Roque Nublo is a must.

Room Tip: The block of appartments is big and most guests have to walk a bit and use lifts. If walking is a p...

“Everything we wanted”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Never been to Gran Canaria before so looked at reviews on tripadvisor for places to stay. We wanted a quiet resort and Puerto Mogan seemed to fit the bill - we were right. Then we had to choose accommodation. Looking at the reviews, we really fancied Cordial mogan Playa, but it was outside our price range, so Valle seemed a good 2nd choice. We plumped for B & B and requested an apartment on either floor 6 or 9 as I had read that they had large balconies. As Mogan is the furthest resort from the airport we booked private transfer, which was excellent and only took 30 minutes. Booking in at the hotel was quick and easy, with a glass of complimentary fizz welcome. They has taken note of our request and we were allocated a room on the 6th floor. We were given a photocopy of the map of the hotel with directions how to get to our room as the hotel has many lifts which can be confusing. Although we found our way around very quickly and easily, I can see why it could be difficult, as the signage on the outside of the lifts is hard to understand. The apartment was very spacious with plenty of wardrobe space, but only 3 small drawers - could have done with more for tee shirts etc. Even though there was only 2 of us, the apartment still had separate bedroom which was nice. Kitchen area had good quality crockery and cutlary. We always take our own mugs as we like a decent size cup of tea, and we are glad we did, as the cups are very small. 2 burner hob, microwave, kettle and coffee maker no dishwasher but washing up liquid supplied and sponge/scourer. Sofabed very good - pulled out to 2 separate single beds with proper mattresses. Balcony huge and completely unoverlooked with pull out shades covering half of balcony if required. Some of the apartments had slightly smaller balconies and the ones on the ground floor had very small terraces, some of which were quite overlooked round the pool areas, but ideal for small children. We had shower over the bath, which was perfectly adequate - plenty of hot water. Lighting brilliant in bathroom with wall mounted hairdrier.and 2 sided shaving mirror. As we stayed in January we didn't need the fan on and certainly didn't need aircon, although the sun shone every day and it was beautifully warm. Grounds were immaculately kept and swimming pools exceptionally clean. A couple of cats hung around but were not intrusive. Breakfast was excellent - good variety and well labelled. No poached eggs though (scrambled, fried, boiled and omelettes available). Little tip: if you want a hot breakfast with an omelette , choose your fillings for your omelette first, then give to chef - you can then choose you other items while the omelette is being cooked. There were always tables available, so no waiting in a queue. Other than breakfast we ate out or cooked, so can't comment on other meals. We have only 2 slight complaints: TV only had CNN, BBC world news and Disney Channel in English - not even a music channel or radio. The other, which the hotel can do nothing about, is dog barking. Because the resort is in a valley, the noise echoes, but we soon didn't notice it. All in all I would definitely recommend it, but maybe the hotel and the resort in general would not be ideal for teenagers.

Room Tip: Gound floor perfect for mobility problems, with lovely views of gardens/pools We were on 6th floor...
