Never been to Gran Canaria before so looked at reviews on tripadvisor for places to stay. We wanted a quiet resort and Puerto Mogan seemed to fit the bill - we were right. Then we had to choose accommodation. Looking at the reviews, we really fancied Cordial mogan Playa, but it was outside our price range, so Valle seemed a good 2nd choice. We plumped for B & B and requested an apartment on either floor 6 or 9 as I had read that they had large balconies. As Mogan is the furthest resort from the airport we booked private transfer, which was excellent and only took 30 minutes. Booking in at the hotel was quick and easy, with a glass of complimentary fizz welcome. They has taken note of our request and we were allocated a room on the 6th floor. We were given a photocopy of the map of the hotel with directions how to get to our room as the hotel has many lifts which can be confusing. Although we found our way around very quickly and easily, I can see why it could be difficult, as the signage on the outside of the lifts is hard to understand. The apartment was very spacious with plenty of wardrobe space, but only 3 small drawers - could have done with more for tee shirts etc. Even though there was only 2 of us, the apartment still had separate bedroom which was nice. Kitchen area had good quality crockery and cutlary. We always take our own mugs as we like a decent size cup of tea, and we are glad we did, as the cups are very small. 2 burner hob, microwave, kettle and coffee maker no dishwasher but washing up liquid supplied and sponge/scourer. Sofabed very good - pulled out to 2 separate single beds with proper mattresses. Balcony huge and completely unoverlooked with pull out shades covering half of balcony if required. Some of the apartments had slightly smaller balconies and the ones on the ground floor had very small terraces, some of which were quite overlooked round the pool areas, but ideal for small children. We had shower over the bath, which was perfectly adequate - plenty of hot water. Lighting brilliant in bathroom with wall mounted hairdrier.and 2 sided shaving mirror. As we stayed in January we didn't need the fan on and certainly didn't need aircon, although the sun shone every day and it was beautifully warm. Grounds were immaculately kept and swimming pools exceptionally clean. A couple of cats hung around but were not intrusive. Breakfast was excellent - good variety and well labelled. No poached eggs though (scrambled, fried, boiled and omelettes available). Little tip: if you want a hot breakfast with an omelette , choose your fillings for your omelette first, then give to chef - you can then choose you other items while the omelette is being cooked. There were always tables available, so no waiting in a queue. Other than breakfast we ate out or cooked, so can't comment on other meals. We have only 2 slight complaints: TV only had CNN, BBC world news and Disney Channel in English - not even a music channel or radio. The other, which the hotel can do nothing about, is dog barking. Because the resort is in a valley, the noise echoes, but we soon didn't notice it. All in all I would definitely recommend it, but maybe the hotel and the resort in general would not be ideal for teenagers.
Room Tip: Gound floor perfect for mobility problems, with lovely views of gardens/pools
