Lochwinnoch is an enchanting village just beyond the conurbations that extend round Glasgow. Especially in Burnfoot House you get the sense that you are a million miles from the pace of urban life. Situated on the crest of a hill beside the Calder, and surrounded by parkland and a golf course that climbs to the moors,it is a cosy two storey stone cottage offering all the comforts of warmth, hearty food and contacts with the circle of writers and musicians of which the owner forms part. My paternal ancestors lived in this area for several hundred years, and I can see why, This visit was a final treat on a long journey occupied with other business. Part of the attraction was the vicinity of the airport and the vibrant city of Glasgow beyond. Enjoy the filling breakfast and wander down to the loch and the little town, where you are sure to meet the locals for engaging discussions . Open to the world and the wide skies crossed by gulls, kites and herons. The sun obligingly completed the picture in Ronnie's herb garden. A perfect B&B.
