“Great self-catering house”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

Burntfoot House was rented to us as a self-catering accommodation and we were thrilled with it! We rented both the upstairs and downstairs of the house, enabling ourselvs, our son and daughter to all have own room. This was a real treat after sharing hotel rooms for the previous week. The kitchen is very well equipped and we enjoyed being able to make some of our own meals and relax. The house wasn't lacking anything we could think of. Dishwasher, clothes washer / dryer combo, TV, stereo, to name a few. The centre of the village was just a short walk (10 minutes at my pace). The local cafes, pubs, and some wonderful little shops made our week's stay in Lochwinnoch very enjoyable. A lovely walk in the other direction offered beautiful views of the Scottish lanscape. I highly recommend Burntfoot House.

“Magic”

Lochwinnoch is an enchanting village just beyond the conurbations that extend round Glasgow. Especially in Burnfoot House you get the sense that you are a million miles from the pace of urban life. Situated on the crest of a hill beside the Calder, and surrounded by parkland and a golf course that climbs to the moors,it is a cosy two storey stone cottage offering all the comforts of warmth, hearty food and contacts with the circle of writers and musicians of which the owner forms part. My paternal ancestors lived in this area for several hundred years, and I can see why, This visit was a final treat on a long journey occupied with other business. Part of the attraction was the vicinity of the airport and the vibrant city of Glasgow beyond. Enjoy the filling breakfast and wander down to the loch and the little town, where you are sure to meet the locals for engaging discussions . Open to the world and the wide skies crossed by gulls, kites and herons. The sun obligingly completed the picture in Ronnie's herb garden. A perfect B&B.

“A good start for our Scotland Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2008

After arriving to Gatwick in late afternoon, we hired a car and went
north. Not used to drive on the left side of the road (swedish people)
we had planned to make a short trip and Burnfoot House was a perfect
first stay on our one week holiday in Scotland just a few miles from
the highway. Burnfoot house was a beutiful house in the nice
environment of Lochwinnoch. We got an excellent reception and our host
Ronnie helped us to an open restaurant in spite of the fact that
everything around was closed, and as a bonus we got a guided tour to
the surroundings.
That night we had sweet dreams in fresh and nice rooms, and I
especially appreciated the quit and calmness around the place.
Next morning we had a delicious breakfast in Ronnies kitchen together
with a couple of good advices for the continuation of our trip. Next
time we will stay longer and have time to explore the surroundings and
make a stop at the local pub to listen to the local musicans of the
village.

“A Terrific Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2007

Burnfoot House is a beautifully restored and well appoined historic building in a quaint and very friendly village about 25 min. by train from Glasgow (train station is a 2 min. drive/20 min. walk from the house). We stayed in both rooms (bookending a trip to the Highlands and Skye) and they are both very comfortable and amazingly quiet.
Ronnie, the owner, is warm, friendly, and a terrific host and tour guide--his suggestions for places to see and how best to get there were perfect for what we wanted. In fact, we decided to stay there 3 extra days beyond our original plan to use Burnfoot House as a base for day excursions. This gave us time to appreciate both Ronnie's hospitality and to get to know Lochwinnoch and its environs, which have a lot to offer in terms of natural and cultural interest--the loch, the bird sanctuary, Muirshiel Nature Park, the Brown Bull Pub and its Sunday night traditional music session...We will most definitely be back!

“A great host!”

I have stayed in a lot of B&B's in tha USA and Europe and I must say Ronnie, the owner/host at Burnfoot House, extended himself above and beyond duty to make us feel comfortable and at home. We had a fun time at the local pub playing trivia with him on our team, slept well, and had a great hot breakfast in his kitchen . When it was time for us to leave he personnally led us to the gas station and Glasgow Airport, fearing road construction would interrupt our route! Burnfoot House in on a very quiet road near the Lochwinnoch Golf Course and is just SW of Glasgow Airport. It is a very homey place and resonably priced. We recommend it for its friendliness.
