We spent a week in the Hotel Caribe 5th to 12th August 2011, the food was excellent, fresh and appetising and lots of choice. Rooms were fine, clean with fresh towels every day, cleaned every day except Thursdays, the additional bed for 13 year old was the same as ours (not a pull out). The pool was lovely and quite big, plenty of space for games as well as just swimming or cooling off. Also large area for lounging with additional kids’ pool and area (up to 11 years I think). We never had a problem getting a sunbed at any time of day.
Daytime entertainment was really good, the entertainment team worked really hard and there was a constant stream of various activities for all ages, also a great way for teenagers to make friends. The evening entertainment wasn't very good, but the hotel's team worked hard, the karaoke machine was broken and apparently broke down the week before. There were also some extra activities (charged) such as snorkelling and Biza Balls during the day too.
One slight issue was the queuing at the bar, most guests were all inclusive and there was a queuing area for them, however non all inclusive guests were served 1st and didn't have to queue which was a little annoying - the wrist bands should have been sufficient for the bar staff to charge or not.
There were plenty of comfortable seating areas, one quiet and two with English TVs showing news in one and sport in the bar area.
The surrounding town of Es’ Cana was lovely and the beach was a mere stroll away, with pedalos, fishing, glass bottom boat and banana boat - a particular favourite with teens, the neighbouring beaches were also near enough to walk to, Cala Nova was excellent for swimming. There were plenty of bars and shops without being too over-commercialised. Also the Hippy Market on a Wednesday at one end of town was absolutely fantastic, and not to be missed.
Occasional dogs barking - re other posts was very occasional and certainly wouldn't spoil your holiday and we were right above them.
Overall a fabulous holiday and hotel, I would go back and I would recommend this to anyone.

way back in 1993 we first found this hotel lovely place for people like ourself then with a young family and we went around another 12 holidays here when our fam ily grew up we went back twice it was fine then last year our son came back with us thankfully we went half board as we saw a very big change in this hotel food no choice realy no table covers and no service at bar well not like what it used to be girls at reception still good and lovely and clean but not the happy hotel it was a real decline a sign of the times possibliy but thankfully we have found another hotel and we love escana and having gone for so long we feel sad this hotel has gone down hill so much as the price hasnt but we did have many happy memories and glad we went when we did our son loved those holidays with the kids club so busy that you had to put your name on a list the evening before at no extra cost hope it has a turn around and we will go back but think this could take a long time to build up reputation decline was when allinclusive was intriduced real shame.

this hotel was great value, clean and well located- but I would not stay here again.
I did not anticipate all that goes with a budget all inclusive hotel- and that is an error I will not make again. Very poor quality food and drinks. Very noisy patrons, most taking advantage of the free drinks and letting children run wild. Not for me. Everyone else looked like they were having a good time though

Well i've been going to this Hotel for last 7 years how disappointed i have been this year ! This hotel went All inclusive in 2010 and i thought they would have learned from there experience in the first year but alas not so ?
They have gone opposite way and gone cheap cheap cheap even the tea bags were so crap you had to put at least two in your plastic cup to make a good cup of tea and the coffee from the little machine they served you from was just disgusting and i just did not have any more after trying a couple of times.

All inclusive guests are treated like second class citizens,small plastic cups for beer, wine and other cold drinks you could not even have a pint of beer only a Small plastic cup.
Even plastic cups for hot drinks.It was noted however that Half Board guests were always served with glasses and proper cups AND ALWAYS SERVED FIRST. There is a large sign at one end of the bar All Inclusive Guests served here .

I fully understand the need for plastic cups around the pool area but no way in the bar area at night.
In restaurant there was no table cloths on the tables in was like being in a transport cafe !

Most of the staff are very friendly but it has one or two bad eggs especially the bar manager who is very abusive if you complain or upset him !

How anybody can say the food in this hotel is good i don't know ? it's about average i know as i've been coming here 7 yrs and as i have stopped here for 4 weeks at a time in the past and it repeats often.

I deffernatly will not be using this hotel again !!
