“Fair enough”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

After an amazing time in June, we decided to close our summerbreak with another trip to Ibiza in October. The summerweather in Holland left a lot to desire.
Since the first time we stayed in de Sant Antoni area, we decided to stay somewhere else on the island. Plus we knew that in October the island is closing down and much of the party crowd / summer tourist are gone.

After a lot of searching we decided to stay at Hotel Miami on halfbroad base as it is our favourite way for staying at the hotel. Plus we rented a car, because it is very easy to drive on Ibiza and we already knew where our beautiful and tranquil beaches are.

To keep it short:
Food: Compared to the other hotel we stayed in Ibiza a few months earlier we were a bit dissapointed in the offering of the food. The choices were kinda limited. Catering mostly to families. Which most of the guests are. Simpel, bland dishes to choose from. Maybe we were too spoilt with the first hotel. However I must say that the dishes that were available which I found not boring were satisfying. My partner in the other hand was not pleased with the offering. And while the breakfast was almost exactly the same every day I did not get tired of it. Juices were from the machine which I personaly do not like.

Location: Es Canar lovely tourist resort town, October very laid back and quiet. The the entire island in general. Enough restaurants to satisfy all budget if you are not staying all inclusive.

Room: Good size, nice balcony clean bathroom. No complain. They could put a bigger TV, but not complaining since we only were there to sleep and shower.

Service and staff: Excellent cant fault no one at the Miami. All were nice and very talkative. Maybe because I can speak fluent spanish played a role or that my partner was handsome guy;-) (sparkling blue eyes and blond hair)

Do the effort and walk about 10 to 15min towards Cala Nova (it's a beach), the water, beach and enviroment is so much better than the one in front on the hotel. We did not discover this Cala during our first trip but fell in love with it, the minute we were there. Cala Nova is splitted between two Cala's and the one further (as you walk over a rocky path) has the best spots to relax! The white Restaurant you come across going to the 2nd part serves some delicious burgers serves some great burgers!! Check the pic!

June and October are nice months to go. June is the island more active and lively while October is more laid back. However in October it was easier to come in contact with locals on the beach than in June. Also October while the water is a bit cooler than in June and summer months it is still lovely to swim. However the sun does set around 5 or 6pm. The island cools off at night. One night it was very breezy as a storm was passing over the island!
Never the less both are great periods to visit!

“Good for families not good for young couples”

Traveled here for the first time in august 2011. At first sight the hotel is lovely and well looked after. the cleaners were always lovely and did an excellent job in the room. the reception staff on the other hand were less than helpful especially when our air con broke and then started dripping water all through the night. There were also a couple of times where the water went off completely. The food in restaurant was nice but basic and was the same thing every day. The hotel would be good for families with children as there's alot to do for them but if you've not got children i wouldn't recommend this hotel.

“You really get what you pay for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

We spent one week here from the 28th May until the 4th June, I would note, don't go to Ibiza at this time as it is just the start of summer and it rained all week, was very cold.

The hotel was clean, and our room was too.

We stayed in two rooms the first a twin room, we had to push the beds together, our balcony looked on to a roof top where people could easily get on to and walk by, there was no view apart from the local cat, it wasn't nice to sit out on, so we never used it.

After complaining, the 4th night, we got a room at the opposite side of the hotel, where we had two double beds this time, and a partial sea view, but at least we could sit out with a better view. However the 5th day, early morning, someone used their key on our door and walked in, much to the surprise of myself and my boyfriend, we weren't happy at the thought of people being able to access our room, we complained, obviously there was nothing they could do for us.

The food, we were all inclusive, which is good for free drink, as Ibiza is VERY expensive for everything such as snacks and water or juice even. The food could be described as basic school dinners, over cooked pasta and chips with everything, we went hungry most days living on bread and crisps and eventually forking out almost £25 for two whoppers at burger king, yes! its very expensive.

The entertainment was poor, I would have rather have had nice music rather than watch that, we escaped it most nights by travelling to Santa Eulalia.

The beach is tiny, I read before I booked the holiday that the hotel is situated on the nicest beach of the island, wrong, it takes about 3 minutes ti walk across it.

Es Canar itself, I wouldn't stay in this resort again, you have to take at least 2 buses to get anywhere, the resort looks tired and dated, it is very quiet, okay for those who want to sit on the sun lounger all week, but for explorers its too tiring getting the bus everywhere. and on day 4, we were put of the bus journey when our bus driver started attacking a passenger out of the window, we got scared and ran off and took taxis everywhere from then, at least it was only me and my boyfriend and a local on the bus, as children would have been terrified.

The best part of Ibiza was the old town, its a place to escape the tackiness of it all and get lost within the cobbled paths.

The Hippy market was the biggest disappointment, just rubbish with half the stalls selling the same thing as the rest. We planned on going to the caves, however only one bus a week goes there and we missed it sadly by wasting our time at the market, tip ditch the market and go to the caves.

Overall, I wouldn't return to Ibiza, the whole island it outdated and tired. The euro has made it really expensive to eat and drink. Save up your money and go on a once in a life time holiday, the package holiday has truly had its day.

Overall, I wouldn't go back to Ibiza, its over rated, a bit tired.

“Good Value, Great Position”

Stayed here second week in October for 7 nights all-inclusive. Good, clean hotel in a great position right on the beach. We had a good sea view room with views over the pool area and towards the beach. The room was very spacious and cleaned to a good standard every day. No problem getting extra pillows etc. Staff at reception very helpful and polite.
Food was pretty good for what we paid for this holiday (under £350 each ). The menu was identical to the same group Hotel Hawaii we stayed at in Palma Nova, Majorca earlier in the year, but the food here was much better cooked. Drinks were fine as well. Great hotel this for families.
My pet hate, however, is lack of pool heating outside of the summer months and these nice pools were FREEZING. It really is a shame that hotels have brilliant pool areas and hardly anyone uses the pool because they are too cold. The sea was much much warmer than the pool !!
We would visit this hotel again due to its locality to the beach and its only a short stroll to the centre of the resort with plenty of small bars and eateries.

Room Tip: Worth asking for sea/pool view or pay a couple of quid extra for one.
