“A few improvements needed but overall a good holiday.”

We went to this hotel end july/aug and the hotel was busy.

On arrival we were greated ok.

We had a room at the front of the hotel with a view of the entertainment stage and pool. The room was small clean but very warm.Yes it does need air con and my hubby stated it was the worst two weeks sleep he had ever had due to it being warm. The house keeping was good clean towels and sheets regular.

The room we had was noisy when the entertainment was on which finished by 11 but an advantage as we could sit out there watching the entertainment if we wanted with our own drinks. The entertainment was kids disco and bingo the brought in acts were a bit poor but we watched a couple of times.

Drinks ice creams at the pool bar were very expensive a can of pepsi 3 euros and us included in the day we were walikng to the shop a 2 min walk away a few times a day to stock up on beers water and ice creams for the kids.

This is frowned upon and someone did say once to us and another couple you shouldnt do this. If they looked at there prices and made it a bit cheaper i think this would make people stay in the hotel more because as soon as the entertainment was done or came on everyone judged if it was worth staying and the place emptied to find a cheaper beer.

The hotel food was very good and always warm which can be a problem in some places, but the dining room did get busy and could probably have been improved by longer opening hours.

The hotel was generally clean and tidy but there are a few things that they really need to address. Like the kids park the green astro turf matting was all broken and rolled up with concrete under it and a disaster waiting to happen.

The pool area at the front was ok but there are fewer beds that side. You have to line up a least 9.30 to gain entrance to the back pool when there is a dash to get the best beds that dont go in the shade. Its a nice sun trap and nice pool.

But the pool(outside) toilets are at the back and in front of them a large puddle gathers from pool water mixed with everyones dirty feet in and out of the toilets. This put me of the back and we always went out the front.

The hotel should do more activies for the kids and open the kids entertainment room every day at the hot times so they can go out of the sun they wouldnt have to have to organise anything just maybe put out some books or crayons and colouring pages or put on a dvd.

The major issue we heard about while we were there was that four rooms had been broken into not the first time we were later told. One family lost all ther money but this is a reminder it is sensible to get a safe. Security cameras would be a good thing at the hotel and maybe a security guard walking about.

Overall we had a nice time but found that with the money we spent even being sensible and not going overboard we will be going all inclusive again as it works out the same next time so we feel we can have icecreams and drinks etc when we want.

This hotel was a bargain but this is reflected in star rating and the issues it has.

“OK but not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed here in August as a Family of 3 me, Partner and step daughter (9).
Rooms- half of hotel has been refurbished and rooms better quality but unfortunately we were in the older part. Room was an ok size with three single beds and a couple of pieces of old furniture. There was one socket in the entire room and it was the old style continental plug so the three adapters we took were useless, we had to get an extension lead and use bathroom plug which had been refurbed and had normal plug. It was also boiling at night and very difficult to sleep without a fan which you could hire from reception at a cost.
Food- Best bit about this hotel, food was good and plentiful and very English (don't know if that's good or not!).
Entertainment- The animation team were great with kids and did do something every night but nothing spectacular. To be fair there was only two of them working all day and night so they couldn't of done more.
Pool- There are two which are clean and beds at rear pool mostly available every day.
Overall this hotel is average, if they got all their rooms modernised and put in Air con it would make a world of difference. However we booked in August knowing there was no air con so maybe were a little naive.

Room Tip: Ask for one which has been refurbed!

“review of the hotel overall”

my husband and I took our 5 year old granddaughter to this hotel at the end of July. We had a good week and would go back to this hotel. The entertainment in the evening was pretty good and Children were entertained by resident childrens entertainers outside which we all enjoyed. The only day we had a thunderstrorm the entertainment was brought indoors. My only observation was that it is quite an old hotel and perhaps bedrooms could be brought up to date and ours was very cramped with 3 beds .....but saying that the price we paid was very competitive and the staff were very good. 2 pools which was great. We used the front pool which also had the childrens pool - very quiet. food good

Room Tip: rooms overlooking the front of the hotel and front pool are the best

stayed at the anfora playa in last wk oct 2011,holiday started ok, then half way though the wk, the hotel decided to pack away all the items in the hotel and didnt seem to care that we had payed good money to stay there and didnt care bout us still there on our family holiday, the kids club was never open!no happy hour as stated!no entertainment from half way though wk,beer run out, dangerous play ground, receptionest very rude, beds stuck in corridors as people was leaving, removal on machines while we sat in club, furniture being covered over in sheets, im surprised they never wheeled us out, seemed they couldnt wait to close for the season,so wouldnt go there again feel we have been treated very unfair to say the least!!!

Room Tip: backfacing rooms as the ones at the front get loads of noise

“Lovely holiday.”

Me and my partner stayed at the Anfora playa 14th-21st September 2011 with our 4 year old. Wasn't impressed to see our tiny room with three beds pushed together but we decided to make the most of it and had a fab holiday! We spent most of our day times around the quiet pool at the front but theres a more lively one at the back. Tony and emma are brill, they work hard to keep everyone entertained. Our son is a fussy eater and the chef made him a separate meal most evenings, couldn't thank him enough. I'd recommend hiring a fan though we all slept much better with one. My son keeps asking when can we go back!
