A very warm and friendly welcome was experienced at this magnificent family run hotel in a quiet but simply stunning corner of Corfu!. It was very dark when we arrived and quite late so we had no idea of the expansive view that was awaiting our stunned eyeballs the next day! A quick check in and prompt escort to our room was very welcome. All was explained (Free Air Con, Mozzy Screen across the main doors (A 1st), free safe etc) in our spacious and very clean room with a brand new bathroom including a shower with closing doors...so NO slippery floor!
Settled in and then went down to the bar, as you do, and was offered a sandwich on the house! So with a beer for me and a Gin & Tonic for my wife we began our 2 weeks of sheer relaxation in what looked like a superb choice of hotel...always a relief eh folks?
Staff in the hotel couldn't be more helpful and welcoming. Many have worked at the CGB for many years and took a great deal of pride in their jobs. The family who own the hotel are ever present and are simply devoted to you having a good time. They have built a tremendous reputation over the years and is reflected in the many Gold Awards from Thomson.
The pool and area around is spotless and the gardens are very colourful and beautiful!
The food in the evening restaurant (7pm to 9.30pm) is fantastic with a wide choice to suit all tastes. They always have specials for the day which are always mouth watering. We only ate out twice out of curiosity in 14 nights. There are several restaurants nearby overlooking the beach... a little quiet in October but enough eating to create a good atmosphere. Back at the CGB the restaurant was busy every night! Busy...but not overcrowded as Anastasia took great pride in making sure each new table was occupied at a manageable rate so you were never waiting long either before or during your meal.
The hotel is situated slap bang in the middle of the beautiful Agios Gordios beach/bay with high hills (some would say mountains) to the left and right. The beach is literally a few steps across the road and you can choose to go to the left or the right or stay where you are...the choice is yours!
In summary, this resort and this hotel forces you to chill out, relax and take life a lot slower...just what we wanted. So if you want a welcome that’s warm and memorable, a quality hotel with all amenities (inc. Free fresh water), great food, helpful staff and a view that you never tire of with stunning sunsets...then you have found it!
Enjoy...we did!
