We spent a weekend at Johan Spa Hotel and would say that if you don't expect much, it is a nice place. Rooms were clean and service ok, even though there was only one person in the reception, and she seemed to be doing practically everything in the hotel, starting from changing lamps to selling beer. Early November meant few customers, and the main restaurant Pähkel was only open for breakfast. The hotel has a lot concrete walls, even in rooms, and that is IMHO nor cosy neither stylish. Voices from neighbouring rooms were quite easy to hear.
We had a package, "Meie kaks", which included room, breakfast, sauna, one treatment in spa and a romantic dinner for two. This last item was more or less far from romantic: as the main restaurant was closed, we were directed to Kapten Korts, a pub, which was totally empty. There was a young man, who told us quite bluntly that we could choose from three courses and we would have fried apples&ice cream for dessert, and all drinks we would have to pay for ourselves. Well, the pork was decent, typical pub food, but he brought us a bottle of wine, put it on the table and vanished. We opened the bottle and served ourselves. The romantic part was obviously the candle on the table, and we kept ourselves warm laughing all the time.
Spa was nice, the sauna with open-air tub was nice and I enjoyed the lava stone massage. What I did not understand was that we had to rent slippers!
There are several very nice restaurants close by, especially Vinoteek Prelude, fresh fish, good wine and very efficient and kind service!
