“Overpriced, Small Rooms, Poor Breakfast, No Soap”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

I certainly don't understand some of the ratings for this property. There is one that is on target and it is written in Finnish. Simply put, this is a very overpriced property providing 1-2 star service. My deluxe room was one of the smallest I had in two weeks in Estonia. Numerous dead insects throughout the room.

The staff appeared to be temporary summer staff and provided no interest or advise on the local area. Breakfast was very poor considering the price point of this property. A small selection of meats and cheeses, two juices. Numerous times items would be finished and not promptly replaced. Stale and limited bread selection. Butter and a few jams in tin packages.

The property does not have air conditioning although there is a fan in the room. Keeping the windows open is a limited option due to the large number of bugs and mosquitos.

The only good point is the location near the castle. Other than that - avoid.

“Just lovely...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

We stayed 4 nights - 2 of which we were the only guests in the place. As you might imagine, the service we received was fantastic. Stunning location, just by the moat of the Bishop's castle. Ample parking. Lovely room - again overlooking the castle, with shared balcony (which we had sole use, given the time of year we stayed). Residents lounges are very comfortable. A good breakfast started the day. Although the Ekesparre does not have its own restaurant, there are plenty of good places to eat within walking distance (we particularly liked the meal we had at the Georg Ots hotel nearby).

“Luxury with a view and service”

Our company was looking for a special location to celebrate an event and thank our contractors and vip-clients. The travel agent (Livonia Travels - Finland) suggested Ekesparre Residence Hotel on their website.

Everything was absolutely perfect. The location is about 5min walk from Kuressaari center but still very quiet and "isolated". The rooms were cozy and very exclusive and the staff did an excellent job to make sure our own personnel and our guests enjoyed the visit to the fullest. Everything in the hotel (rooms, lobby, library and other facilities) was in excellent condidtion.

The scenery to the surrounding park and/or the Bishops castle was stunning, especially since it snowed on the first night and everything was covered beautifully with a white powder.

The hotel has free wireless internet and sufficient meeting audio-visual equipment, so our brainstorming sessions were very easy to set up in the upstairs library. We had reserved the entire hotel all for ourselves, so we did not manage to bother other guests and they did not bother us.

After dinner, on two evenings our group decided to stay up a bit later and enjoy the hotel services, fireplace and the services of the small bar and we had the best possible service one could hope for.

I have no problems recommending this hotel for multiple purposes and a varioety of groups if you are planning a trip to Kuressaari - Estonia.

“Best location in Kuressaare”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2008

I looked for hotel without spa and a bit of romance in mind, and I'm happy that decided to try out this hotel.

Me and my girlfriend were visiting this hotel with some reservations in mind but we have to admit that it was near to perfection. Hotel is nicely located near the Kuressaare castle and seams to be in middle of town. Still has some privacy as it is in center of park and we were nicely surprised how easy it was to walk to anywhere from there. City center was 10 minutes away and there were plenty of places to go and have a dinner. My favorite was Chameleon.

Hotel's service is very personalized and all workers were really helpful.

Umbrellas were available and were used ;-)

We were in the room 6 and it was with really nice view. Only complain I would have is that balcony was shared with next room.

Nice hotel with lot's of details to admire. We are gladly recommending it for couples who are visiting Saaremaa.

“The best hotel experience ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2008

We were looking a hotel in Saaremaa in Kuressaare, where we can be in private and this time we decided to treat ourselves with a luxury class hotel. First recommendation from local tourist information was Ekesparre Residence Hotel. From internet we found hotel homepage and we loved it on the first sight we saw it. Bookig process was very fast and professional. We stayed there for four nights. Ekesparre Residence Hotel is just opened, renovated hotel, has 10 very beautifully and well furnished rooms, small, personal and private. Exactly what we were lookig for. We got a room (all rooms there are dbl de lux) with a view to a one of the most popular tourist attraction there - a fortress. Hotel itself is very luxurious and cozy. People who are working there, are on top of the class, specially want to thank hotel manager Varje for hospitality. They gave us lot of tips, what to do and where to go in Saaremaa. I have been many places around the world, but this kind of welcome and warmth I have not experienced before. So If You look quiet, personal and exclusive hotel with best staff then Ekesparre should be Your first choise, no doubt about it. Highly recommend it, You will get good memoryes. Definatelly will go back to friendly Kuressaare to spend our holiday again, beautiful city. And now we know where we want to stay, it is Ekesparre Residece Hotel. See You !!
