“Disgraceful. Awful. Rude. Expensive. Con artist.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2011

Our group all in mid to late 20s, mostly couples, had booked the whole hotel for a friend's wedding and all were disgusted at the situation at the end.

In summary-
The hotel was nice and traditional, but that is where my nice comments end. Our (double) room was literally a garden shed. Something more regularly seen in a B&Q catalogue then a 275 Euro a night (before tax) hotel and we were charged the same rate as the other guests in the hotel. The ‘shed’ was 12 foot by 12 foot and had an insect (lizard) problem. There were dead flies on the windowsill and the cleaners did not do their job. The room was so small that we could not unpack our suitcases and had to live out of them for the duration. My room was small than the majority the en-suites in the other similar priced rooms.

There was no restaurant or bar, fairly enough, but the drinks and basic food offered (toasties and pizzas) were ridiculously expensive. When asking to order the basic food on offer, he always came up with a problem or resented the order.

The owner and manager were consistency rude to all guests from start to finish. They offered no help or assistance with any matter. Every task asked of them was met with an aggressive or dismissive attitude.

The owner, upon us all checking out charged everyone in the group at extra 50 euro per room per night than was previously agreed with the bride and groom. Upon one girl in the group questioning this, he refused to talk to her and said it was not his problem. He was a vile man and I cannot stress enough that you should avoid him/ his hotel/ his presence at all costs.

Room Tip: Dont let them put you in the garden shed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“We won't be rushing back”

First impressions of the hotel were good, lovely rooms and nice peaceful surroundings! We were staying with friends as part of a wedding party! A rate had been agreed for the rooms prior to arrival as our party filled the hotel, on checking out this rate was not stuck to (225 Euros) and the owner decided to put atleast an extra 50 Euros per room per night, more in some cases, which caused a lot of distress and was an unpleasant end to our break! Apart from this not being what was agreed the hotel was certainly not worth this. Firstly the breakfast was very poor, bread and a slice or ham/cheese every morning with no variation, I asked if I could have water with my breakfast as I was thirsty and didnt want the coffee and this was charged at an extra 3 Euros, not ideal when you are already paying 275 Euros per night! Secondly although the pool area was nice the pool itself had clearly not been cleaned in a while. Thirdly the owner was very rude to us. A very picturesque hotel but with a very stuffy atmosphere, we were not made to feel welcome at all!

“Terrible food / service and we got ripped off”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

As part of a wedding party, we stayed in Can Guillem in June 2011. The wedding couple agreed a rate of Euro 225 per night B&B for most of the rooms if we booked the whole place out. However upon checking out the owner charged every room an extra 50 euros per room per night. This was despite the current rate on the website advertising 225 euros a night. Unfortunately we didn't have the original quote on email so we all had to pay 275 per room per night. This may have been acceptable if the service was excellent. However it was terrible! All we got for breakfast was croissants and 2 slices of ham & 2 slices of cheese per couple...oh and a glass a orange juice. I have coeliacs disease so can't eat wheat or cheese. I told the waiter, he said I could have fruit but it would cost me 6 euros, upon waiting for a delicious fruit platter, he plonked down a plate with an apple a pear an orange and a kiwi fruit...6 euros on top of 275 a night! There are no shops near by so unless you have a car or get a taxi you're stuck there. Outside of breakfast they were able to provide a few sandwiches / toasties and a pizza for 18 euros, but even then they ran out after only feeding half the guests. Again because of my allergy I had to snack on Walkers crisps.
I'm not usually a complainer but I really would advise anyone against staying here because I'm sure there are far better deals to be had around the island. You have been warned!

“HOSPITALITY AT IT'S FINEST.......NOT!”

Lovely looking villa, rooms are about the size of a boat cabin, lizards everywhere, all going ok until our breakfast on the 1st day which was inclusive and consists of 1 slice of cheese and ham!

After renting the whole place and been told the rate on the website we were then all charged much more than quoted over the phone! So if you are mad enough to stay there make sure you have it in writing!

Then we have Mr Happy! Service with a smile is defo at the bottom of his list!

Ohhh...... 8euros for a cheese and ham toast to, that's if he can be bothered to make you one!

“Private, peaceful retreat with personal service, in very pleasant surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2010

We stayed in Can Guillem for six nights in August. The hotel has ten rooms and was full throughout our stay but it never felt busy and definitely never noisy. As you would expect with a hotel this size, there is no dedicated bar or restaurant but very friendly and helpful staff are around all the time (including overnight) who will serve you drinks and snacks wherever you prefer. There are tables set up here and there, along with large comfortable sofas for lounging about in. When we were choosing which Agroturismo hotel to stay in, reviews for others said you could feel a bit abandoned during the day as it was almost "too quiet" but this was not the case at Can Guillem. The pool was perfect for a quick dip and is set beside a lawn and garden.

Another reason for this choice was the distance to nearby towns. We rented a car but some nights wanted to drink so a reasonable taxi fare was essential; it will cost 15-20 Euro each way to get to Ibiza town. However you really do need to have a car here as it is about a kilometre from the main road, and shops, bars etc are further away. Although the island is small, the drive from north tip to south is a fair trek with the windy roads in the North; if you are planning on spending most of your time in Ibiza town itself then this is a good choice location-wise.

The building is of traditional Ibiza style and design, so the rooms have small windows and thick walls. This meant that ours was quite dark, and probably could have been lit a little better. The furniture is all quality - traditional and homely rather than luxury - and there is a safe, minibar (not ridiculously overpriced) and TV with a few English-speaking news channels.

These small, private hotels are all at the more expensive end of the scale on what is already a very pricey island. I would struggle to think of anything in Ibiza that achieves maximum points for value! But without the noise and 'entertainment' of a big complex, you feel less pressure to get away during the day and spend money. Perfect if you are looking for peace and quiet.
