“pretty cheap and not so cheerful”

im going to be fair with this hotel. personally i found it ok but and its a big but... there are lots of improvements that could be made to bring it up to scratch. the hotel layout is great. the location is excellent and the staff were friendly but the food and amenities really let this place down.

our room was ok although no air con which was a problem for us but a quick convo with the gentleman on reception and hey presto we had a fan and as we were there end of the season this was adequate but if you were thinking of going here at peak i think it was be intolerable with the heat. The shower and the hot water was a joke to be honest. i found that if you want a shower it has to be about 3 before everyone else. hardly any water pressure. the room was cleaned everyday which was great and our room ( which was in the main building with a pool view) was adequate. Take a tip dont bother hiring the tv cable cos its not worth it... all german channels apart from some british sports channel.. me and my partner ended up watching billards on night.... prior to this i didnt even know what that was lol

Right here comes the bad bit. all my holidays tend to be last minute and mostly all inclusive so i pretty much know what im gonna get. This is definitely a 2 star when it comes to the food. Poor selection mostly is the problem. what is on offer is tasty but badly presented and i eat with my eyes. No selection of desserts. only jelly and melon and the occasional rice pud. there is only 2 coffee machines... both situated in the same area which gets really crowded. The toaster broke the day we arrived and was never fixed. the breakfast was greasy and cold. whatever is put out for luchtime is then put back out and served for dinner.

We found a really good breakfast can be had at the beach bar over the bridge to the right of the hotel and lots of good eating places nearby.. the entertainment was rubbish and also the info in the lobby for excursion etc where all in german and spanish .... no english leaflets to be had anywhere... so you really are on your own to explore. the castle aint worth the hike up the mountain.... it aint a castle its a look out tower.

the walk to sa coma and calla millor is worth it and i will definitely revisit this island and will stay in 1 of these areas as it seemed to be of a higher standard generally . hope this helps

“HAD A GREAT TIME CLEAN AND TIDY”

staff were very friendly, we booked a 3 star but on arrival noticed this was only a 2 star, walked around other hotels and a 4* we saw was diabolical. we had clean towels everyday and bed changed once on request.plenty of loo roll. mossies were everywhere but thats the hotels fault maybe other guests were just not prepared.entertainment was minimal but ELVIS was funny and the free booze helped , he mimed . very clean and tidy we were in room 133 and we got the evening sun till the sun went down , had no problems at all. the shower was very high and our balcony chair had a nail sticking out of it but was sorted out promptly. Also for £149 all inclusive was a great girly weeks holiday the biggest bonus was the beach ( sandy) was 3 minute walk away. for all those reviews moaning i suggest you spend more money for a hotel you are accustomed too. it was cheap AI what did they expect! clean, tidy and friendly . would definatley go back with the girls, got a wicked tan in a week . worth every penny.

Room Tip: room 133 gets the evening sun

“You get what you pay for -”

We booked 3 self catering apartments for 6 people - and got great value for money - you get what you pay for!! Basic but large clean rooms with private balcony, seperate good sized bedroom, and bathroom with plenty of towels, soap and loo roll!! (not expected for the price paid!) In our apartment we had a few oddities.. a shower hose that didnt reach to the holder, but you can get round that, a couple of lights that didnt work, and no kettle. The apartment was serviced 3 times in the 5 days we were there. GREAT location, very close to the beach and local bars and restaurants. 2 pools that were occupied most of the day with loud kids, Germans (who really did get out early with their towels on the loungers) and Brits who choose to stay put and drink all day.. (probably on all inclusive) when the beautiful beaches were a stones throw away. A fine base in a really nice Spanish location - I would definatley go back for a short break or long weekend!!

Room Tip: We booked apartment with pool view, which was probably better than the others in the group whos apar...

“some people just love to moan!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

i have recently returned from staying in the Playamar, when reading reviews after booking i got a little worried to say the least, thought i was going to some hell hole that i may not return from. so i just want to set the record straight...i arrived in the morning about 11am, check out is at 12 so i know a few people had a problem with there room not being ready but they were taken to the bar to get a drink and all staff where very apologetic and accommodating. i however requested and early check in on booking so was given the key and told where my room was..i was in the main building so there was a lift and it wasnt too much of a walk. the room was small but clean and to be honest just what i expect from overseas..outdated but functional. i did get a few mosquito bites but if u put repellent on properly then you wont! the food was average continental stuff really nothing to write home about but always something edible always fresh bread which i found helpful. only really complaint about the food is its never hot and is repetitive but there are many places a few minutes away that you can eat if you wish. theres a big enough variety of drinks available from 10-10 house spirits and local beer etc after 10 you have to pay for drinks or go elsewhere, there are a few bars etc very close and not too expensive. the pool was cold but clean and everyone in it seemed to have a good enough time. yes there is the odd tile broken and the odd chair a bit worse for wear but nothing dangerous and they are all marked off etc. the staff did speak basic English and thats all i personally expect (i could order a drink and get what i asked for) the entertainment was hilarious, probably for the wrong reasons but everyone seemed to have a laugh with karaoke and bingo etc and for the money you pay you really cant expect to be entertained! theres a beautiful beach on your door step and sillot is a lovely place. i didnt have any problems with my room etc but i know that anyone that did just had to tell reception and they would sort it out or get moved , so you cant fault them really!! to some up i think if you are looking for something to complain about you will find it .. if you want a nice low cost holiday in a clean room in a beautiful location book here! your holiday is what you make it!

“Not so bad.”

I had read the reviews on here before going so I knew what to expect. We arrived just before midnight, the bar was still open, but all inclusive is between 10am and 10pm so we had to pay for drink or have water. The room, 212, was ok, clean but small. The beds were comfortable and clean. The toilet door lock was on the outside, weird! It was right by the lift and stairs and right above the main entrance, so it was noisy, and some people have no consideration for others sleeping, running down the corridors and shouting. The room was cleaned every day. The food was basic and unimaginative but plentiful. It was more or less the same every day just a variation on a theme. What was left at dinner was there again next day for lunch! It was ok if you're not fussy, if you are there was plenty of chips! No there was no toaster at breakfast but I could live without that for 5 days, there was cooked breakfast, cereal and bread, meats and cheese. Yes drinks served in plastic cups, not environmentally friendly, but saves them washing glasses. No fancy food, no nice puddings, but lots of fruit and salad. And yes there were mozzies, we got a ton of bites and had to buy cream, we got bitten every day and had to kill them before we could sleep. For me this was what was worse than anything else. On the plus side the hotel is right by the beach and that was clean, the weather was lovely and we sat around and read alot. I wouldn't have liked to be there for a fortnight 5 days was enough, the area wasn't that great. Overall it was a clean hotel, the staff weren't chatty at all but I wouldn't say miserable.I wouldn't go there again, but if you do take mozzie cream, citronella candles and long sleeves and trousers. I guess it was a cheap holiday and so you get what you pay for.
