We are just back from a weeks holiday in Skala, kefalonia. We stayed at the zaphyros which was fantastic. It is a family run hotel, Andreas ( who is a real laugh) Voula his wife and their two children and of course Mamma! I could have taken her home, she had come from Athens to help out in the hotel. A real home from home, from the minute we arrived and nothing was a bother. The room was lovely, very clean and the pool and views were amazing. The breakfast was excellent and we ate at the hotel every day at lunch and we had a few meals which were delicious. It is about a ten minute walk into skala but the walk and views are magnificent. The beaches in skala were clean and the sea was turquoise. The town has many restaurants which were all as good as each other. The shops were great, everything you would need in the one place. We hired a moped which I would not recommend unless you are very experienced. We had a fabulous holiday and would definitely return to Skala and Zephyros.

We spent one week in this hotel last September. Hotel is small and quiet. It takes about ten minutes to walk down to the beach and about twenty minutes back. The way back to the hotel might be too hard for senior citizens, small children and people with disabilities. It really makes you sweat :)

Hotel is very basic and mainly clean. I have to say mainly, because I was quite disturbed about their towel politics... After showering at our first night, I noticed my towel had some dirty spots in it. I placed it on the (dirty) bathroom floor for cleaner to change it, but found out next evening, that it wasn´t replaced, they had just put it back on the rack. I think that is disgusting! They changed our linen once during our stay. For me cleanliness is number one thing in a hotel...

We had a rental car for 3 days. Kefallonia is a beautiful island and we had the best time driving around it. Beaches are clean and water is clear. We took one scuba dive in Agia Efemia, but it was a little disappointing, there were basicly nothing to see.

All in all, I would love to return to Kefallonia, but I would choose a different hotel this time.

We have just retruned from our 3rd stay at the Zephyros and our 5th to Skala and we have to say it just seems to get better. Each time we go we find another new restaurant we havnt tried before and all we have tried so far are very good, traditional food and good wine. Andreos, Voula,Kali and little Barbara are great and they make your stay very warm and welcome. You cannot fault their accomodation, food and great hospitality. The view from the hotel is breathtaking and Skala is so pretty and unspoilt. Definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a traditional, relaxing greek holiday. We have already booked to go back next year. YAMMAS!!!!

just back from a week at Zephyros,its a brilliant family run hotel,Andreas and his lovely Wife Voula are so welcoming and pleased to help.Our rooms were spot on and kept very clean,as was the area round by the pool,lots of sunloungers.The food on menu during the day was really good-chicken souvlaki excellent,best we had.We were kept entertained by the mummy & Daddy cats who had 7 beautiful kittens !
the walk into town down the hill and along the coast rd was lovely,we got taxis back in evening but only 5 euros[taxi rank on coast rd,nr Symposium],most lunchtimes we sat outside Metaxa beach bar right on the beach overlooking the ocean,so chilled !If you want a nice relaxing holiday with beautiful views the Zephyros is perfect-will definately return soon.
