“Serene resort in semi-remote location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

This is a lovely resort set up on a hill in a quiet location. "Natural rock" pool is of a good length size, with a separate kiddy pool. Unusual mini-golf. Small "lake" with lots of kangaroos around - watch out for all the poos on the ground!! Handy accommodation at base of Mt Buller. Did not want buffet breakfast spread or pay too much at the restaurant, so we went to a cafe in Mirimbah, just at the toll booth before heading up to Mt Buller. Lovely cafe. Lots of 4WD tracks and camping sites around Mt Stirling and Mt Buller. We did the tracks during the day and came back to the resort. Go to Bedaree Falls (stand underneath, behind the falls) - beautiful. Go to Craigs Hut - spectacular scenery. This is a must. Drive around Mt Buller. We were there over Australia Day long weekend (summer) so lots of mountain bike activities. The cafe at Mirimbah also takes passengers and their bikes up to Mt Buller for a fee - 4 times a day. Came back to the resort each evening for a jacuzzi and sauna. Had dinner at Mill Inn (at Sawmill Settlement between resort and Mirimbah), lovely and unusual deco setting - interesting. Good food. Food at the resort restaurant was good but slow. There were only 2 staff doing everything, including attending to the reception!! There's a games room down below reception area which is great for kids and adults alike. Walk around the resort - very peaceful. Sit and watch the ducks and kangaroos in the evenings. Our fourth stay here - mainly it's the only "decent" resort closest to Buller (accommodation up at Buller costs more presumably), but it's nice to get out but still come back to some peace, quiet and serenity.

Room Tip: There's room in the main hotel building or stand-alone chalets that have their own verandah or b...

“Great Aussie Break.”

My family and I stayed for 3 nights in a 1 bedroom suite.
The bedroom had a TV as did the sitting room which doubled as the kids bedroom. The beds were comfy and despite the scorching heat outside the rooms were cool.
The resort is situated at the foothill of Mt Buller. We saw lots of wildlife and thought what a great place this would be for international tourists.
We dined each night at the restaurant and the food was great, Surprisingly large serves; even off the kids menu!
There is a beuatiful outdoor salt water pool which we made very good use of.
There are lots of nice dirves and walks in the area too.
All in all, I would recommend a stay here.

“Good hotel, needing a bit of a freshen up”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Lovely tranquil location, room was clean if not a little bit tired. Good to have a small kitchenette for breakfast in case the restaurant is not open. Quite a hike from Mansfield for a decent restaurant or supplies... two big supermarkets in Mansfield and a number of dining options. Only real complaint was the state of the gym. Equipment was old, in poor condition and dirty, my hands were black after using the free weights. The fitness facility needs a complete overhaul.
Staff at reception were very polite.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view, some rooms face onto the car park which is pretty unattractive. The room...

“Lovely Experience”

This is our second visit. It is a great place to just relax. As this is more known for winter, I just love it in summer. The kangaroos bouncing by down the hill past your chalet is just fantastic. It would be better if there were more sun beds by the pool. It was very warm when we were there and it was hard to get anywhere to sit. We stayed in a 2 bedroom chalet which is great, but you have to walk up the hill to the main area to do your laundry. It is very tranquil and quiet. Not a place to go if you are after excitement. My daughter and her friend just loved spending time at the pool and watching the kangaroos. Thank you
