“Beautiful Blue Marlin Lodge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

This quaint island would not have been as wonderful without the Blue Marlin Lodge. After residing at the lodge for a little over two weeks, it is safe to say I left with heart-warming and enjoyable memories of the entire staff, the delicious, diverse food, and the actual resort itself (including beach side hammocks, a large dock to watch sunsets/rises, and the cozy bar area). If destiny allows, I will definitely return!

“Excellent Diving, Snorkling, Fishing, and Fun”

I was fortunate to be able to stay at the Blue Marlin for around 2 and a half weeks with a coral reef ecology class. I can't say enough good things about this place. The staff is friendly and accessible to your every need. The rooms were nice, spacious, and clean. For the entire 2.5 weeks we were there, we never ate the same meal twice! The cooks were amazing.

Snorkeling was excellent in the surrounding cayes and off the South Beach. I am not sure what the earlier reviewer was talking about saying the snorkeling was not that good. Once you swim from the beach you must swim past an area of turtle grass in order to get to the patch reef. It was a great area for viewing fish will only being around 9-10' deep (deep enough for novices to dive down and explore)

The diving was also excellent. Carlos is an extremely experienced and accomplished master diver. He took care of us but also allowed us the freedom we needed in order to have a good experience. He was very safe. We dove down to around 80-90' several times and everything went on without a hitch. Everything from the equipment issue to the decompression stops were safely supervised. Not to mention that diving off the wall where there it drops to 2000' is breathtaking!

The staff was almost embarrassing in the way that they bent over in order to make us feel satisfied. However, I can honestly say that I made some lifelong friends in them as well. I am already planning a return trip to Blue Marlin!

Room Tip: I slept in the huts that they had (they call them domes). They were excellent rooms that stayed cool...

“Great location, great people, great resort.”

I just spent 2 weeks at Blue Marlin. The people were welcoming and accommodating, the food was excellent, and the rooms were clean and air conditioned. There was daily maid service, fresh towels daily, excellent boats for diving or snorkeling, well-trained guides, and a nice bar (where guests from other resorts on the island gathered). I have stayed at many places in Belize; this is the best.

Room Tip: Rooms near the ocean are best.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Stopped in for a short visit and to do some diving. Great diving and excellent accommodations. All rooms are renovated and refurbished, with new and comfortable beds. The diving was spectacular with great visibility.Carlos my dive master guide was very good. I would visit this place as many times as possible if I were living close. Spectacular location and service.

Room Tip: Resort in close proximity to dangriga.I stayed in a guest room, but the resort has 5 private cabanas...

“Finest resort on top the barrier reef!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

I was disappointed to see a review reference the food at the Blue Marlin Lodge. It has been the best ever and so is the service. I visited as a stranger and left as a friend to all the staff and management. Great people, good service, comfortable accommodations, great diving, and spectacular wall dives and view of the Mayan mountains. On arrival in Dangriga we were met by the Blue Marlin staff and shuttled over to the boat dock for transfer to the island. Boat ride was approximately 30 minutes. On arrival at the lodge we were met by the staff, was introduced to the lodge and offered our complimentary rum punch or belizean beer. Thereafter we were told what package we bought and what our schedule would be. We were taken over to our room to freshen up for a relaxing evening and dinner. As divers we get our gear into the dive shack, set them up for our first dive and thereafter we did not have to touch our equipment as the dive staff did that on a daily basis. We were pampered and felt so at home and comfortable. The wall dive were spectacular with a vast amount of marine life. Our vacation was such a memorable one that since my first visit I have been visiting yearly for the past 15 years. This is definitely a place to come and relax and get that personal touch and family style environment. Very spacious for kids and family also.

Room Tip: My 1st reference in room was the private cabana overlooking the barrier reef.
