We spent 3 days at the Villa Belvedere in Cannobio and had a great experience. The property is set back against the hills at the edge of town with nice grounds, views and quiet! But it is only a 5 minute walk to the edge of town and another 10 minutes through the old town and you're down at the lake edge.

We stayed in two adjoining rooms in the inn - the rooms were good sized and each had a nice large bathroom. A new building with an additional 10 rooms or so was being readied for occupancy when we were there and they looked quite nice. The new building is 2 stories at the back of the property so it does not intrude on the peaceful ambiance of the hotel. The pool is large and they had a few playtoys that my girls appreciated.

Meals are served in the dining room or outdoors if the weather is pleasant. Service was courteous and friendly and the food was quite good. Since Cannobio is located just miles from the Swiss border, the food reflected the influence of the Swiss menu. Breakfast was plentiful and dinner offered a choice from among a few entrees. Guests were asked to make their dinner selection at breakfast.

The staff provides touring information and was helpful in sending us in the right direction for our exploring. Great spot - if we are in the region again we'd definitely stay at the Belvedere.
