We spent very little time at this hotel, as we arrived super late in the evening - we were lost trying to navigate in our rental car from Folgosinho to the hotel (we ate at this amazing carnivorous restaurant called 'O Albertino').
When we arrived we saw that two other diners from the same restaurant were at this very hotel! We smacked our heads for not following their car - but alas, we did get there due to two very VERY kind Samaritans we found taking a walk outside their home. They ended up getting into their own car and led us to the Hotel! I wish I got their address to send them a thank you card and gift! The people in Portugal are so kind and generous!
Ok back to the actual review of the hotel. We had to wait in the dark lobby for 15 minutes until someone came to help us - I know it was late at night (about midnight!) but it was a very uncomfortable wait, the lobby was a bit creepy in the darkness, the seating area was stiff and dark. We had to wait longer because a guest was waiting for some milk and cookies(?!?) from the counter staff.
We eventually got settled in and slept off the stressful night. The room is very spacious, as is the bathroom. We could hear families and children in the morning - going to the breakfast. We needed more sleep so we called the front desk to have ours delivered to our room. They asked us what drinks we wanted etc. The breakfast came promptly at the time we requested but there was no real space to eat it from. So we set it on the bed. Which is fine, that's what vacation is all about! The breakfast was decent: 2 croissants, 2 ham slices, 2 cheese slices, coffee and juice (tasted like Sunny D) 2 buns. We were sad we didn't get to check out what the buffet was like.
We had a balcony that overlooked the side of the property. Beautiful view of the area. We decided to look around the property before setting off to our next destination. They have a quaint garden/pool area. We were able to take some lovely photos. We think it's a nice place for families and seniors. The overall hotel was sooo quiet and I found the interior decor a bit stifling and formal. We definitely didn't take advantage of all it had to offer since we had to leave to drive to the coast.
The counter person in the morning was very helpful in assisting us in our driving itinerary. Overall it was a quiet restful place and the staff provided a nice departure experience compared to the stressful evening we had the night before (the stress was ours alone not due to the hotel at all).
