A few tweeks and this is a great value hotel.
I think it’s changed owners since previous reviews as there was no reference to Hilton.
The breakfast was terrific. There are eggs in the restaurant, but they will cook poached, fried or scrambled fresh for you. The staff are warm and friendly and do everything to help.
We returned from a day out and they were having housekeeping issues and our room hadn’t been cleaned and linen changed. They sent us to the bar and ordered complimentary drinks while they attended to it. I think there are a few staff problems but new owners are working through it.
There is free airport shuttle bus which is reliable. We flew to Barcelona from here so it came in very handy. They also picked us up on our return. Just phone them and they send the bus, as they are not allowed to park at the airport. Takes about 15 mins.
They will also take you to the train station in town, or wherever you want to go.
We got them to take us to Malpensa airport where you can get the express train to Milan for 7 euros, takes about 40 mins.
Very comfortable beds and nice soft pillows, a real treat for Italy.
I just wish all hotels would give guests 2 pillows, one soft, one hard, so you could have the choice of your preference.
One thing I particularly liked was a very subtle LED night light in the bathroom that changed colour. No stumbling around in an unfamiliar room in the dark in the middle of the night!
The shower heads were dodgy quality and ours broke, but they immediately gave us another room.
They actually provide good quality Neutrogena toiletries, which I appreciated.
It is situated on the edge of the town of Sommo Lombardo, which is a bit ordinary but does have an outstanding castle in the middle of town and a wonderful restaurant opposite for fine dining.
Overall, good value and handy for flights.
