“Great Hotel Hidaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

This Hotel was a chance find by accident. A last minute booking for my wife and I. A two night stay with B&B and evening meal £280. The staff were all friendly, polite and helpful. Nothing was to much trouble. Every effort was made to make our stay enjoyable. The room was large, very clean. The bed was huge and very comfortable. A good view over looking the village green. Very quite. The best bit about the stay was the food. The menu was excellent. Great cooking and presentation. The freshness of local produce was evident. The waitresses were beyond belief helpful and new the menu to give good recommendations. If I had to give slight constructive critisisim I would suggest perhaps a cloth table cloth and napkins to replace the paper ones that were being used. But minor detail when the food was so good.

“really nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

Beautful spacious room, modern interior but corner room No. 2 on main road so some traffic noise early morning, although this is a small village so very quiet at other times.

The food and real beer are superb and staff friendly and efficient. Breakfast a treat.

Would definitely recommend and not hesitate returning.

“Great restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2010

Did not stay here, just had an evening meal which was great and could not be faulted. I had the lamb which was so tender. Service was good too.

“This is the place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 May 2010

I was booked into this hotel because the one that was booked for me was overbooked. What an absolutely lovely place to stay. The gardens are beautiful as are the bedrooms. I have stayed in lots of hotels and this small pub/bar/hotel is comparable to a 4-5 star hotel. The rooms are spotless, sheets so soft and the pillows lovely. The bathroom is clean and the showers very powerful.

The food has a reputation for being outstanding, and that is absolutely true. The chef evidently loves his job, the chocolate fondant is to die for. It was like dining in an upmarket expensive london restraunt.

The staff are a little aloof, however, that is not a bad thing as they leave you alone. Having said that if I asked for anything I got it immediately.

Breakfast is lovely, bread is wonderful. I highly recommend this as the place to stay. I will be staying here again and look forward to it already.

Highly recommended.

“Delightful place to stay in lovely village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2010

Our room was compact and confortable; the other rooms we saw were larger. All rooms are very tastefully decorated. Service was excellent with the care of the owner manager. Food was very nice, wine list short and excellent with good value wines, breakfast was excellent.
