... that is what Gamas is all about. It is plain and it is VERY well prepared; these people know their sea food. If you are expecting fru-fru sauces and elaborate frilly presentations, chose somewhere else. For 3 people; each choosing individual starers, a decent white wine, a shared large plaice, no deserts, the price was €120. Try to get that in France or Italy.
I was a bit puzzled as to why the mussels were served with beards on and the calamaris with their cuttelbone (cartilage) and ink sac in tact; emaculately fresh, delicious, but odd. I understand that the ink has become a delicacy; I now just need to get used to my wife's black tongue. The small scallops were divine - garlic and wine. The plaice was truly perfectly cooked; slightly crunchy surface and moist succulent interior.
