“Don't be deceived by the photos on the website”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

I turned up at the hotel late at night and I knew as I pulled into the car park that it wasn't going to be great. Smelt throughout and rooms were tacky and dated. The rooms were dirty in places. I was staying there with 2 colleagues and their rooms were the same. The staff were friendly though and the breakfast was good.

“Pleasant Hotel, value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

I stayed at The Talardy for one night in September. The hotel was very good value for the money that I paid. I stayed in a premier room with two double beds, it was comfortable, clean and spacious.

When I got to my room I noticed that the fire detector was bleeping every minute. I had a word with the girl on the reception and someone came and replaced the battery within ten minutes.

I never did find out how to use the two remote controls that operated the TV and the view box. I suspect that the remote control also needed fresh batteries, but that was a minor irritation for me.

The food was of excellent quality. I ate in the pub for dinner, I had the lamb chops and they were superb. You order at the bar, not table orders. Not really a problem, but... When I asked the barman for a wine list, he turned round, looked at the shelves, and said, "Would you like red or white"? I just ordered a beer. Breakfast was very good and a reasonable choice.

Overall, I found the Talardy Hotel to be very good for the money that I paid and I would definitely stay there again. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was very nice, comfortable and clean, and the food was good.

“A little gem which just needs some love”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

The rooms at Talardy are really tastefully decorated, we had the superior double which has 2 really comfortable double beds and a nice spacious bathroom. Unfortunately there was a constant smell of food cooking which was a bit off putting when you walked in, as was the first impression when you pulled on to the car park after only viewing it on the website. The potential here is fabulous, big gardens with an absolutely gorgeous huge summerhouse which is a listed building which needs bringing back to it's obvious previous splendour in fact this could be said of the whole outside of the building. The restaurant was good value for money but would imagine when there are a lot of children could be noisy. Friendly, helpful staff who smiled and made you feel welcome from booking in to booking out. Will definitely return

“brilliant stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2011

I'm a little flabbergasted with the review on here below as I have not only recently stayed in the African Room but found it to be spot on. I prefer the Celtic or Roman room but the little touches in the room were brilliant and the room was very clean and smelt of fresh linen and lavender which is very plesent.

The food was fantastic, breakfast and the evening meal was brilliant. Stayed on the weekend and the evening in the chestnut tree pub was very busy.

Staff were brilliant, couldn't do enough and managed every whim. Was a fantastic time and will be booking again.
