“Don't Hire Golf Clubs Here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

We experienced conflicting levels of service from very pleasant to down right rude! The room wasn't exciting but clean. We had arranged to play golf and booked a tee time for three adults 2 days priot to tee time and requested to hire golf clubs - . No problem there - we were asked ladies or mens clubs! About one hour before tee time when we turned up to get our clubs the problems started! No one wanted to deal with us - we were left waiting while a procession of other customers were dealt with. We were asked if we wanted right or left handed clubs - we were all right handed. After about 20 mins 'golf clubs' appeared - these consisted of a kid's golf bag each and in each bag there were 2 irons, a wedge and a wood! No driver and one bag had a mixture of right and left handed clubs! My husband and daughter's handicaps were 7 and 5! This was the most insulting experience I have ever had.

“Find another hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

We were very disappointed with our stay at the Hampshire Golfhotel-Waterland. Everything from the stained carpets everywhere (hallways and rooms) to rooms that didn't feel very clean. There is not much to do besides golfing and the property is really too far from Amsterdam city center. The hotel bar and restaurant advertised that it was open until 10 on weeknights but when we got there at 8:30, they were locking the doors saying that they decided to close early - no explaination. We had a difficult time trying to find a place to eat that evening. when we told the manager about it, he didn't apologize or offer any suggestions. Rooms will accomodate a family.

Room Tip: Be specific if you need a room with two double beds.

“Awful experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

This hotel is not an AA approved 4-star hotel and it doesn't look like one. I would probably say its a 2 or 3-star. The service is terrible and our room was quite far from reception area. You would think twice if you want to go to the lobby. The service is so awful that the customer service personnel told me that they can't come to the room as its so far.
When we went in the room, one of the main lights was'nt working. There was no iron or electric kettle. On request they provided a kettle but it was leaking. Fortunately we didn't get electric shock..
The room facilites are comparable to Travel Lodge where you just get a room and a bed.
The cleanliness is not to a high standard. The bed linens and towels were showing sign of wear.
Overall, it was a bad experience and I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone - unless you play golf.

“Excellent value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2011

Good location if you do not want to stay (and pay) central Amsterdam prices. It is about 20 minutes from Amterdam by car. The rooms have been newly done up, with a modern bathroom and decor in the room. The corridors in the hotel are a bit tired. There is lots of parking.

We got the bus to Amsterdam, as parking was a bit of a nightmare when we had a look. This was a good location to visit other areas such as Edam and Volendam.

Very good value for money.
