“It's OK...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

Stayed there for 2 nights post our dive trip from Malapascua.. It's a rather basic resort. Nothing fancy, clean toilets and room. The blanket given is super thin like a bedsheet. Good thing the room is not cold.

We checked out the other rooms there too like the honeymoon suite, family room etc. Don't think it's worth paying extra for those as it's not very much different from ours. So if there is just the two of you, ask for one of the 3 rooms that's facing the sea on the ground floor.

Location wise, this resort is quite close to our dive centre and you can so shore dives within a few min walking distance from the resort. Beach front wise, it's not fantastic, but it's not an issue for us since we spent most of our time diving.

“Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

Me and my friends spent our vacation in this resort. If you expect to be treated in a 5 star beach resort quality... think again. The resort is modest more like a rest house for a wealthy family. No beach to speak. Very limited space. When we arrived, the receptionist is quite arrogant. We were given a room beyond the standard check in time but was flabbergasted because we were given an inferior room. We requested to transfer to room 2 but was negated by the receptionist because according to her its been reserve and the occupant is still arriving. What? i thought they don't confirm room designation? well...... Food is ok thinking the owner is Italian. The staff are not quite competent because we paid all the bills during check in but we were followed because there is still pending unpaid bill...... what? incompetent. Lastly, this resort is operated by practicumers....... no wonder. but they were gracious.

“Good Resort”

We stayed there first time in April, 2nd time in May and on the 3rd time in June 2010. It was a nice place to stay. Good Italian food, I had a good massage and nice bathroom. But i dont like their bed that is made of bamboo. It was squeaky and there were times that i caught my toes on the bamboos. i dont like the style. The diving was great, but until now, I havent received my permanent PADI ID card. I took my diving lessons at Savedra Dive Center. They said it will be ready in 2 weeks and we can get it when we go back there. Until now, no signs for my ID card. We paid P15,000 for the lessons.

“Slightly overpriced base for diving”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2009

We stayed here for over a week during our diving holiday. We have no major complaints about the place, but it seems relatively overpriced compared to similar accommodations in the area and SE Asia in general. Our room faced the ocean and the beautiful sunset. The room included fan, A/C, cable TV (didn't always work) and minibar, and there was WiFi but the signal did not reach my room. We also had access to the pool and breakfast at the Italian place next door. The place was relatively secluded, and small (10 rooms) which was very nice, and the staff was helpful (arranging transport, massage, early breakfast, etc.).

This resort is in Panagsama Beach, a few minutes away from Moalboal town. Panagsama Beach is basically a small strip of small hotels, dive shops, restaurants and bars, with a high number of foreigners living or traveling there. When we were there (April-May), it was quiet and pleasant to stroll down the village and seeing familiar faces (and dogs). We went diving every day, and I wouldn't know what else to do there.

“Nice Cabanas, great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2008

My wife and I just returned from 2 fantastic weeks in the Philippines. The first 5 days we stayed at the Cabana Beach Club Resort in Cebu. The only negative thing about this place is that it is 3 hours by car from the airport. It's a nice drive through different towns and such, but can be a bit of a hike for some.
The Cabanas here are simple and quaint, but very nice. They have A/C. It's a small resort with only about 8 units, so we liked the quiet atmosphere. Our original room had a nice porch facing the courtyard, and we could see the ocean. We managed to upgrade on our second day to a beachfront cabana (#10). This was fantastic, with a view of the ocean right from our bed (although a queen bed instead of the 2 singles pushed together would have been better). The row of 3 cabanas in this section had a nice sand area for relaxing with a few steps down to the ocean. The private pier was a great place for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. The end of the pier has what appears to be a bar set up, but it was not in use when we were there. There was also a "common" area in the sand under a canopy where we could sit out of the sun. The pool was nice as well.
Our stay included breakfast daily. It was simple, but good. They served it to us right on our porch. The staff was very polite, and helpful. We were able to exchange traveler's cheques in the office, albeit at a lower rate than in Boracay. Still, the convenience factor made it worth it. The maids did an excellent job cleaning our room. There was also a security guard on site 24/7.
The snorkeling right off the beach was quite good. There were many fish, and some nice, live coral. The shelf drops off quite deep at the end of the pier and there would often be divers stopped there for awhile. We even saw a sea turtle swim past us while sitting on the end of the pier!
The area is nice. Not too busy (although there are a few pretty funky looking bars). It may be busier earlier in the season, but it wasn't during our stay. Clearly, this area caters to divers. Every place along the coast seemed to be affiliated with some type of dive group. The resort is very close to many small bars, restaurants, and some shops. There was a small convenience store right outside the resort where we could buy water, beer, wine, and snacks.
Overall, we would certainly recommend this resort if you want to stay in Cebu, but away from the really busy areas near Cebu City. Excellent value for the money.

  • Liked — Style of cabanas, service, beach, proximity to services
  • Disliked — 3 hour drive from airport
