“Terrible - definitely not Greek style!”

Don't believe them whenever the reply to your complaints is 'this is Greek style'! I'm Greek and I demand a dry bathroom, a little bit of space in it so I can put my 'girly' stuff in and hygiene (all of us need it, particularly with kids around) - you can't have any of this in this tiny, wet bathroom with no shower curtain and no shower handle (it is firmly stuck about 2m high on the wall messing up the whole bathroom - how can we girls wash our sensitive parts properly like this?) Believe me this is not a Greek tradition, in fact it's the first time I ever see anything like this in a Greek hotel! And how about the owners? They offer the smallest they can and are definitely not friendly and warm. Their smile doesn't reach their eyes and do nothing to accomodate you - whenever you ask for something (reasonable) they do not make any effort to offer it, they just say 'it's Greek tradition' (HA-HA-HA....) Also: beach definitely not within walking distance, not sandy and always crowded, the wi-fi didn't work (thank god I had mobile internet with me) ,they didn't serve Greek coffee and frappe at breakfast (no Greek coffee in a Greek hotel!!!!!!!!!!), the stairs in the maisonnette were too dangerous for the kids AND when we complained about all these (and a few more) they told us that nobody had complained about these before and that we were probably used to staying at 7-star hotels!!!!!!!!!! Shame on you Maistrali. People stay away if you want to enjoy a well-deserved holiday after a tiring year!

“Super holiday again !”

This was out second stay at the Maistrali Apts. It was as good as the first. We loved it from the start to the finish.
We booked it all independently and saved a fortune. Taxi from airport was about 20 euros. We booked a studio via comparison sites/ hotels4u gave best price. We were on the top flloor. It was great to sit on the balcony overlooking the pool. The maids kept the place spotless.
There is a bar/ restaurant on site and the food was lovely and we ate there every night. There is a supermarket opp the apts for daily items.
There are some lovely walks in the area and there are two small pebbly beaches within easy walking distance. There are several tavernas down by the beach road.
If you fancy going to Tsilivi or Zante Town for the day there is a bus from just along the street.
The complex is being refurbished for 2010 with some of the rooms being changed from twin to doubles. New kitchen units/ work surfaces have been installed and the bathrooms upgraded. You can check out their website maistrali-apartment.gr
The place was great / the weather was sunny and all the staff were great of course. They are friendly and helpful and will go out of their way to make sure that you enjoy your holiday. There are so many repeat bookings - that tells its own story.
We will certainly go back there.
Many thanks to Miltos/Effie and Voula and Jackie/Steve and Raisi.

Stayed here in may 09 with my girlfriend. Was a little concerned after reading the reviews but relaxed completley when we arrived. the hotel is out of the way a few minutes in the taxi from tsilivi. This was probably the only minor fault i could really come up with. Miltos and his wife (the owners) were lovely as were the rest of the staff in the hotel. Tsilivi has a few nice bars and restaraunts and is only a few euros in the taxi. walking distance from the hotel there isnt much, but we did find a beautiful fish taverna just round the corner (if you leave from the hotel and turn right.) there is also a expensive but convenient mini supermarket opposite the hotel. Some people have mentioned the bath rooms... yep they are wet, yep the shower is pretty much just the floor, but you will find that this is pretty much everywhere you go in greece... been to a few differentt greek hotels and nothing was different.

Hotel food was lovely and not too badly priced. when miltos (the owner) was in the mood free shots would also fly around too!

would definatley recommend.

“Relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2009

I must say after reading reviews before going on this holiday we did wonder what we had let ourselves in for. We had a wonderful 2 weeks in Maistrali. We found the manager Miltos and his wife Effe, along with the rest of the staff, very friendly. Jackie & Steve (the Welsh couple)were wonderful and very professional when working behind the bar and doing food orders and waiting tables, we were lucky enough to meet them at a local bar one night and found them to be very good company. We did not spend much time around the complex but when we did everyone was helpful and polite. We had one meal and one breakfast there which were both very nice. No one was ever rude to us and always most hopeful if we did ask for anything. The rooms are basic but very clean - this is what we expected.

If you are looking for night life on your doorstep and you don't like sitting at the hotel bar then i suggest maybe Tsilivi itself would be better. There are handful of restaurants close to the hotel of which we tried them all and had very good food at each of them. We found the prices to be roughly the same 7.50-12.00 euros for a main meal and 3.50-5.00 for a starter. The one restaurant we went back to time and again was Petrinos Kipos as the food was good and it was very relaxing. Also Ray and his staff are very welcoming and accommodating. We also spent some time at Paradiso Bar run by Jurgos which is very pleasant and is open quite late. Most of the patrons there are local workers who are very friendly.

All i can say is we had the holiday we were looking for a nice relaxed place and not too many people in your face. Just loved it and if we do return to Zakynthos would definitely stay at the Maistrali again.

“Don't Stay Here!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2009

Rooms are tiny, bathroom floor always wet, as no shower curtain, we were told this was Greek tradition and it was in fact a wet room! We had 1 pan which was big enough to cook for 10 people, when we asked for a smaller 1, we were again told this was Greek tradition. The Greek staff in the complex were appalling, especially the 1 who served breakfast, never a word of sorry when she got things wrong, twice she put ham on my partner's plate when she was aware that he doesnt eat ham, she was very rude. The 2 evening staff Steve and Jackie were pleasant and totally different from the others, so thanks to them. The location was also bad, being 1/2 hour walk from Tsilivi along a road with no path, dangerous during the day, impossible at night. The beach was dirty and not a place where I would want to sunbathe. All in all I would NOT go back again, either to this apartment or to Zante.
