We booked our holiday in PortoZante hoping to experience the luxury that the website advertises. Instead we arrived at a location resembling a prison that featured only 3 villas. The website says that there are more than 6 or 7. Error no 1. It was as if we went at someone’s summer home. Bypassing the initial shock and with our spirits still high we looked for the infamous spa of the resort. To our surprise, the spa was 2 jacuzzis on the garden grass. No spa here people! And no spa therapist. The restaurant was a deck built on the rocks. So, no restaurant either. What can I say about the service? There are no words to describe it. The maids were all foreigners who wouldn’t speak a single word in English. Rude and dirty. Our “villas” were a complete mess. The sheet and towels were having dirt marks. The floor was not moped. A grave disappointment. The service was horrible as well. A Russian waitress was constantly buzzing around our heads as we were eating, counting every single mouthful. I don’t know about the resort’s policy, but privacy was out of the question. She was always there, watching us. It was a very uncomfortable experience. We asked her if there was a single Greek person employed there and she told us no. What the heck? We were in Greece, we wanted a Greek experience, not a Russian one! We needed a Greek to talk about the island and its history, but all we could find were Russian speaking people. After a couple of days we realized that the personnel never had breaks and were working on 14 hour shifts. My God! A prison indeed. The food was overrated. No variety at all. The same old plates over and over again. The prices were astronomical. A salad costs 80 euros, while its quality does not equal 20 euros. The private beach? What private beach? A single streak of sand, about 3 ft wide, and then the sea. And you had to walk up and down a lot of terribly steep stone steps. It was truly dangerous. Overall, it was a horrible experience and a waste of money and time. And last, the whole resort was a shameless copy of Elounda Beach. I mean, come on! Not recommended at all.
