“Highly Recommend this Hotel!”

Stayed in this hotel for two weeks in August 2011 and cant fault the hotel at all. The family who own the hotel are on the go 24 hrs a day to ensure all guests have a pleasant stay, very friendly too. We arrived in the middle of the night and check in was quick, we were in our room within 5 mins of getting off the bus. Rooms are kept spotlessly clean, the owner and her sister do the cleaning from very early in the morning right through to late afternoon every day - clean sheets, fresh towels, floors mopped, bathrooms cleaned etc. We were in the bed and breakfast block, breakfast was a basic continental selection which suited us fine as not big eaters so early in the morning, and any mornings we were peckish later there was plenty to choose from at the pool bar for just a few euros! Pool area is great, gets the sun all day but theres shade if you need it - 2 brothers, Kostas and Minas, run the pool bar between them and for a smaller hotel we were surprised at the high quality of food and drink served from here. The guys really do put 100% effort in, food is excellent and very fresh (highly recommend the "bacon butties" at breakfast) and the area is kept spotlessly clean. Pool is a good size, you see the boys out cleaning the pool every night too. While we were there the family out on a greek barbeque on the mon evening - I believe they only do this in the busier weeks but if this is advertised while you are there do put your name down for it. Excellent value for money, authentic greek food and fresh salads, greek music and dancing, and it gives you a chance to get to know, the family who are all so hard at work every day, they really are lovley people! We didnt know what to expect from it at first as we had only been there a few days but it was great fun and a brilliant night!
The island of Kos itself is beautiful. Its about a 20 min walk in to the centre of Kos from the hotel for bars and restaurants, or you can walk 5 mins down on to the main road and get a bus which takes you in to town. Once on the main road the centre is down to the left, but if you walk 5 mins up to the right there are a few tavernas on the beach which are well worth a visit too - these specialise in fresh fish dishes but theres something for everyone menus are great! The main square is buzzing at night with street performers and music, its a great atmosphere and we enjoyed sitting down for a drink in one of the bars facing out on to the square to watch the world go by! We did the day trip to turkey which is worth the money for a visit if your keen to see Bodrum, if you've been already its probably not worth it - the bargains over there aren't what they used to be. You can hire bicycles or mopeds on site at the hotel which are very reasonably priced, we did both to explore some more of the island - plenty to see, if you aren't sure where you are going or need help with anything ask the owner here or any of the family at the hotel!

If your British and make it down past dolphin square, look out for a pub called the Sunburnt Arms on the beach front - excellent little pub! Owners are very friendly and the pub grub is excellent, very homely! My boyfriend appreciated the owners efforts to get the scottish football games on 1 of the screens for him, which were hard to come by elsewhere. And they have their own private bit of the beach where you can find a sunbathing spot rather than sit inside!

All in all would highly recommend Kos for a holiday, we barely saw a cloud the whole time we were there weather was fab, food was excellent no matter where we went and plenty of bars to suit everyone!

Room Tip: There are 2 blocks to the hotel - the self catering studio block is much newer and rooms also have c...

We got 6 people to Kos, we were very skeptical, because there were little pictures of the hotel online. When we came down so we were pleasantly surprised, that which met us was an elderly man standing at the front desk. He brought his youngest son Kostas. He helped us quickly to check inside. He showed us our rooms, and they were big and nice. We had apartments, so we had a fridge and cooking facilities. The rooms were cleaned every day except Sundays. Those who washed the rooms were very nice, they began not to wash with us before midday, when we were at the pool. The brothers who worked at the poolside bar was very pleasant and helpful with everything. They were very concerned that you would enjoy at the hotel. The pool is large and very deep. They were very concerned that it should be clean and tidy around the pool area. All the staff at the hotel Iris was very concerned that people would thrive there, there was a complaint of a gang of youths who apparently was on the party tour, they had to change hotels because they disturbed the other guests who were at the hotel.
We all 6 people who went to the Hotel Iris in years, Resi back next ate. We got on very well there, and could not think of another holiday. It goes a bit be visited are a couple who have been there 18 years in a row!
Are you looking for a vacation where you just want to relax, and have nice people around you, the Hotel Iris to andbefale. It is close to the city, the frequent buses, it is possible to rent bicycles on site. The family that runs the hotel is fantastic, and very pleasant.
I can andbefale this hotel to everyone, and I have everything andbefalt this hotel to many of my friends. Next year we take with our family.

“wonderful island, hotel and people = wonderful holiday”

I stayed here with my girlfriend last week 22nd-29th October. Room was basic, with all self catering facilities but it was cleaned spotlessly everyday. Breakfast was again, basic and non changing (greek yoghurt, jam, ham, honey, cheese, corn flakes coffee and tea) nut delicious all the same. The owners were very helpful, staying up till the early hours to welcome us in and allowing us to stay much later in our room because of our late flight.

Its a fair walk into Kos town, 15-20mins, but there are buses regularly. We found renting a scooter far easier and its a great way to see the island too, id really recommend hiring one! i makes life so much easier! (15 euros/day for 50cc, 20 for 125cc - go to escape rentals on the walk into kos down a bit furter up on your left from the mariner, the guy in there was brilliant and helped us out on our lastday giving us our scooter for free!)

My only gripe about the hotel is that it shut the pool before our visit, it looked so deep and amazing but can only imagine how lovely it would be in the summer! and the pool bar looked fab too.

Id really recommend this hotel, basic yet clean and comfortable, good location to explore the island, and its close to kos town and thermes beach (thermal pool!)...make sure you visit the 'so special' bakeyr on the walk into kos town from the hotel...yuuuuummmy!!

wonderful island, hotel and people = wonderful holiday

Spent 7 nights here from 8th Sept and enjoyed every minute of it ! It was spotlessly clean and the pool and surrounding area was immaculate, Family owned and ran the hotel and they were very friendly and helpful regards advising local tavernas car hire etc. Bus into Kos town 100 yards down on the main road and a quiet beach and three excellent tavernas 10 mins walk to the right along the main road. All in all we had a great holiday here and would definitely recommend it for a quiet relaxing week to set you up for the winter.

Room Tip: Upper floor apartments catch more of the sun

My partner and I booked this as we wanted a affordable holiday (so basic) but something that would be clean and enable us to explore Kos. We were pleasantly surprised by the Hotel Iris; the staff at the hotel were very friendly and accomodating, and the hotel, though it appears dated is very clean and had everything we needed. The room service was excellent - rooms cleaned to a very high standard every day.
The hotel is in a great location, enabling you to walk (approx 25mins) or bike (15mins) into Kos town. Bike hire is literally next door to the hotel and we found this was best way to get about and see island. You can pay 4 euro per day or 20 euro to hire a bike for the week - the second option worked out most cost effective for us.
There is a supermarket over the road from the hotel were you can by literally anything you might need. Meals in kos town for two people are on average about 30 euros for two main meals and a drink each.
We had a really lovely holiday, the weather was fantastic and we stayed by the pool until mid-morning, reading and sunbathing and then went out on our bikes into town for remainder of the day. There are lots of lovely restaraunts in town and we enjoyed sampling a few of these. There are lots of local beaches if you don't fancy the pool (the hotel pool inicdentally is very clean with great pool bar).
Quick note - air con is 35 euro for the week, just incase you wanted to budget for this in advance. Also probably not best hotel for children under 10 years of age, but great for couples.
Like I say we really had a great time and would go back to kos and to the Hotel Iris again.
