“Best Hotel in the complex!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2007

When we booked our holiday, we were made to belive that we would be staying at the Panorama hotel on the complex, to our disapointment at the time we were not staying there and were put in the smaller "Maris Hotel" at the bottom of the hill. This was a common occurance at the complex so take care when booking.

However, the change worked to our advantage, as the Hotel Maris is by far the better hotel. The staff are much friendlier, the pool is larger and cleaner, better bar and it is much closer to the beach! Also, no/less children.

My favourite part of the hotel was the food. A large buffet that changed everyday. We ate very well every night with a great selection of national and international dishes. The meat dishes were brilliant! The only downside is that you had to wear trousers (in the very warm weather!) in the evening meal. Also you have to shake a million member of staffs hands before you can get to your table.

We did venture to the Panorama on the occasional evening for a change of scene as it has beautiful views.

The only disapointment was the lack of Entertainment, which is a bit of a problem. They could do with a local band playing in the evenings!

But GREAT HOTEL!

  • Liked — The great pool and food!
  • Disliked — Lack of evening entertainment.

“great hotel where staff are superb”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2007

Originally thought we had booked into the Panorama (one of the sister hotel up hill) and were a bit disapointed to be in the maris however the hotel was great. The staff are top notch and were very frendly, and they all made you feel welcome (greeters in resturant and bar deserve a special mention for being top). The hotel seemed generally quite compaired to the kos bay. Hotel is positioned close to the road and beech (which is more pebbles than sand like most kos beeches) and does not require the walk up the steep hills that the other hotels have which is big plus. The food was of a good quality but my wife found it a bit repative at times as she is not an adventerous eater. The only two significant complaints I have is: 1. a lot of the facilities required you to go to the other hotels to use which can be a pain. 2. The bed in the room was not a double even though booked one and was not the most comfortable

“The Fantastic Maris”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2007

Wow, we have just returned (19 July 2007)from a week at the Maris, like most other people we thought that we were going to be staying at the Panorama, we even had our tour operator put it on the tickets! We were a little disappointed when we were booking in, the disappointment only lasted as long as it took us to get to our room. The rooms were spacious, clean, in good order and the air conditioning was fine, mini bar re-filed every day as part of the all inclusive deal.
The staff were absolutely fantastic especially the bar staff, Dimitris and vassillis?(think that was his name) no matter, they were both fantastic and well deserved the 15 euro tip that I gave them. Drinks are great, cocktails fantastic.
The Hotel just got full as we were leaving so quite glad to have left when we did. I will definately return, best time to holiday if you don't like it too busy is end of May to 2nd week in July, you will also get a great bargain. We paid roughly £370 each for a week all inclusive with inflight meals and transfers. If you need any more info feel free to e mail me at gashbod@yahoo.co.uk.

“Great Staff Made the Difference”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2007

We originally thought that we were staying in the Panorama Hotel (part of the same complex), but when we arrived early in the morning we were told that we were in the Maris. At the time we were extremely
disappointed and angry, but we couldn't have been more wrong! The hotel was beautiful, extremely clean and comfortable, but it was the staff who really made the difference. From the Manager to the Maintenance man, we always received a cheery 'hello' when we walked past. The bar staff were great, and the Maitre'd in the resturant was one of the best I have seen. Add this to great food, drink and beautiful weather, and I think we had a near perfect holiday! I would
thoroughly recommend this hotel.

“Great for families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 April 2007

Went on recomendation of a family friend who works in the travel industry in early season. Took our 6 mth old. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, and the whole complex was very clean. All inclusive package also allowed us access to the attached public restaurant and the related (and genrally higher star) hotels up the hillside. Rooms were spacious and most with a pool view. Excellent for families. It is possible to walk to Kos Town, but it's c. 45 mins away. Food was above average. Only real issue was the beach is more shingle than sand. Thoroughly recommended.

  • Liked — Cleanliness and staff friendliness
  • Disliked — Beach is mediocre, and slightly too far from Kos Town to walk (as adults - way too far for young kids)
