food was horrible and the beer and wine was Hot - and when you really couldn't do with the instant mash and hot dogs cut up in beans, well the local tavernas were excellent. Don't follow the Edmark sign to the beach, big disappointment, well no beach really! But if you walk, or better still bike mabye 5-10 minutes either way there are nice shingle beaches with plenty of sun beds. Bike's are a really good idea and help to make the holiday more fun and they were very cheap at 15 eoros for a week.

I was so disappointed when we arrived at the Edmark, I cried. The shower was vile and the smell was unbelievable. The water that came from the taps/shower was definitley from the sea, it was pure salt water and not pleasant when brushing your teeth!!! We had paid for half board but spent over £700 on food elsewhere as the food at the Edmark was awful. Flys were all over it. We had relatives staying in other hotels (luckily) so we managed to spend alot of time at their hotels. Kos is a lovely place but you just need to stay in a better hotel than we did to enjoy it. The pillow on the bed might as well not even be there, it is so thin we were sleeping with towels and clothes under our heads!!! We managed to get a car and venture round the island which was fantastic - Zia, bubble beach and paradise beach are amazing and the weather was beautiful.

“Avoid at all Kosts”

My friend and I , being ladies of a certain age, enjoy our hols and love Greece. This was the first time we had booked a hotel. Half Board , two weeks £420. Bumf said and I quote "Small run family hotel , 150 metres from the beach " Ideal , we love the sea and looked forward to good family Greek cooking. So here we go.

Hotel about 20mins from Kos town.

Facilities - Small hotel . Pool area ok but plastic loungers with no mattresses. Had to go and buy lilos..well Terry did.

Restaurant ...I will come back to that.

Bar - open 24hours with Sky Sport on a massive sceen ..for 24 hours.

Rooms basic but ok. However no FRIDGE. the temp was over 100 degrees most days even the whisky was hot by 6 at night. We wasted I dont know how many bottles of water.Several times we had no clean towels. Really not good enough.

The beach - now in their blurb ..and I quote "125 metres from the beach " NO ITS NOT!!!Out the back of the hotel - over a stile , along a field , down a field - and ---yes there is the sea .. but not a beach as the dictioinary describes it . Full of huge rocks and boulders not a grain of sand or even shingle in sight-and needless to say - no loungers or brollies.
The nearest beach you can use is a 15 to 20 minute walk along the main road. Get there early because the loungers go quick.

Food. - Breakfast consisted of ( same every day )corn flakes, uht milk, cold coffee, juice , watered down to an inch of its life ,processed cheese , processed cold meat and tomatoes. IF YOU WANTED BOILED EGGS ETC - YOU HAD TO PAY FOR THEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The "restaurant " is a "Buffet Style " no its not. Its a canteen where you collect your food on a plastic tray ..and then return your used dishes on said tray. There are no waiters etc.
Dinner - well we enjoy coming back from a hard slog on the beach , getting showered etc then getting dressed for dinner . Not evening dress etc but its nice to feel youve changed. Wasnt worth the effort. The food was very poor. No starters unless you could count the pathetic efforts at a salad..in Greece as well I ask you Some tomatoes and a bit pasta.A pasta dish, sometimes with no sauce , fish , and a meat dish. Ice cream for pudding. All lying under red coloured heat lamps. We did try but it was grim. When we complained to the owner (more about him to come )that the Moussaka was cold he said quote "Thats just your opinion" Yes it was!!!He removed the moussaka 5 mins later. When asked about the standard of food he shrugged his shoulders and said quote " If you dont like it you can leave ,Idont get enough from the tour company to do anything ."

Tour Company .. Med Hotels. didnt have a regular visiting time to this hotel. When contacted it was going to cost us over £400 to move. They never got back to us.

So if you are unfortunate to end up at the Edmark what to do ? Go self catering.
Two lovely tavernas , to the left is Parakevas , with Lovely Romeo. Food excellent and very reasonable and to the right Nikki and Contessas. Again superb Greek food and dancing waiters!Posh night out we found a fab restaurant in Kos Town right beside Hippocretes Tree...cant remember the name but its the only one there .Food excellent and they make a mean Martini and order the Irish Coffee...its alll entertainment.
Beach . Get the bus to Theopolis Beach. Lovely and spotless loos kept by the owners. Spyros Taverna worth a visit here ,thats where the locals eat.
A very disappointing holiday..and expensive because we ate out all thie time. This isnt Greece. This Hotel accomodates many eastern Europeans . lovely people mostly from the Czech Rep. The owner wasnt interested in our opinions. Although the rep from Med Hotels said he was getting £16 per day for us ( dont know if thats each )To lovely Joe and Lisa who were our equally unhappy neighbours , who went for a relatives wedding and were miserable for two weeks Terry and I hope you have got booked up for Egypt next year. Dont give up on Greece, the people and the food are fantastic its just a pity that your stay had to be in this particupat hotel

“very nice staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2007

Its a nice hotel but not a 3 star according to our european standards (2 star). There were no warm water for showers in the morning but room cleaned every day. Fresh towels and new sheets every other day. we wanted aircon room (6 Euro/day) but there were none left so hired a fan (6 Euro per stay). The room view was alright, we did have a view of the Aiegian sea. The photos of reception area, pool are and rooms looked a lot bigger in the website!!!!!
Not good for vegetarian but alright for meat eaters. Being a greek hotel expected to have a fruit for breakfast or greek tsatziki for dinner, but none of that for the whole week.
Walking to the stoney beach was not a problem but feet hurt when going in the waters. Bus service just outside the hotel, 1Euro only to go to kos town .
The staff were out of this world, very personal service, very helpful which made it all alright to stay at hotel.
If you looking for personal service chose this hotel. If you want a average size shower, bathroom, pool, bedroom, food then chose a 4 star hotel in kos!!!!!
This hotel didn't spoil our holiday!!!

“Terrible hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2006

This hotel was such a disappointment! If you are looking for a relaxing mediteranean beach holiday you should not book in at the Edmark Hotel. The facilities are so basic and you have to pay extra for any additional 'luxury' such as air conditioning (in 37 degree heat). We arrived at 4am in the morning and though greeted in a friendly manner had to carry heavy bags to our rooms- no help granted. We had a sheet on the bed and 1 extra sheet was left on the bed to sleep under. The pillows were very thin and the beds did not make for a comfortable sleep. Probably the worst discovery was that the nearby sewage treatment works filled our rooms with the most disgusting smell of raw sewage on a daily basis. The idea of sipping cocktails on the balcony was less than appealing under the circumstances. The hotel was advertised as having great views of the Aegean sea and the mountains of Turkey from the bar terrace- this was not true!! The beach is an approx 5-7 minute walk away (close enough for comfort but the advert is not accurate as no such views). The food was not variable- the breakfast was continental and basic (eggs etc must be paid for); dinners were awful on some days (unrecognisable meat) and very good on others. One highlight was a friendly and helpful receptionist called Christina- she was an angel in disguise and definitely helped make the whole experience slightly less bad. However, the other staff were strange, impolite, simply grunted 'curtesies' on passing and generally made us feel as though we were intruding on their property for most of time. We wanted to leave halfway through our holiday because of all of this and we have been looking forward to this holiday for a long time. I don't believe for a moment that this is a 3star hotel (their own brochures don't even mention any stars) and it seemed more like we were staying in a boarding school dorm. I would never ever go there again!
