“Super good family vacation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This is the 3rd or 4th time I've been to Canoa. This time we had the whole family and I learned this is a great place for kids! They had a great time. Still a week 4 star that could use some improvements on the buffet - it has a gotten much better than when Be Live first took over and now has some better staff with a better attitude towards service.

We used this as the base camp for my wedding and so we had a decent sized group here. It has one of the nicest beaches and a fantastic pool. I still think it could stand to improve the bar and some service issues and is can take some time to get a drink but they have top-shelf booze in some categories and the service really has improved from other visits.

Still have a great animation crew and really good shows. The disco is fun at night as the animation stays for a while and gets people dancing. Most resorts have the world's most boring disco but here is not bad. My favorite is the lobby bar. Very laid back, a bit hard to get served at times but nice atmosphere and great place to meet up between events.

I love breakfast at Vera Club as it looks out on the Caribbean Sea. The a-la-cartes were quiet good, especially the Japanese. We didn't visit the gourmet since there's a fee now and because we weren't sure the kids would like the somber atmosphere. I'd like to try it if I go back. The buffet got way better this trip and the Christmas supper was good too, but I'd tear it down and move it if I owned this place. It's far from the beach so it gets no breeze when hot, and it's dark and dank in there with no lighting. The food and service in the buffet still needs work to get a solid 4 star rating but it has definitely gotten better since changing hands.

Rooms - I see they are fixing up some bit by bit. In enhance, they are nothing special but very adequate. I had a comfy bed and clean (but small) washroom with hot water. Very cheap on the mini-bar but we were super close to the main pool bar so it didn't matter. I tried to get a 2 bedroom but they must be hard to come by as I booked 9 months in advance and couldn't get one.

We had great wi-fi although I had to pay a flat rate for the week but it worked in the room which was rare in the DR resorts. Good stores on site and lots near by. Fantastic excursions without a big bus trip - NICE! We had FANTASTIC customer service from Jess in the IVC section and she was quick to solve any problems and to help with excursions and reserving things and such. Thanks JESSE!!!

Christmas supper. Thank you to all the staff. Great job. Thank you Jose - fantastic service. Took great care of my family. I was worn out for the party same as most but they had a great Christmas Eve nativity, party for the kids, an adult party late and a full mass. I've been to the DR for Xmas 7 times and this was really nice.

I often can't stay in the same place for a week but I wasn't ready to leave this place. It has a sleepy, relaxed feeling about it and yet you can party here too. There's nothing great about the rooms or the food but they are more than good enough for what you pay here, and it has a fantastic beach and pool, and a great animation crew. You can enjoy doing nothing or have a good time partying. I would recommend this to family or couples that are OK with a great location, I'd say good value but there are no frills and fancy pants stuff for the five star traveler here. I've been to the DR over a dozen times and I've been all over and Bayahibe is still one of my favorite spots to go. Have fun and enjoy!

Room Tip: Ask for a room down by the pool which is also nearest the beach. The resort is long and narrow so...

“GOOD EXPERIENCE, would come back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

We enjoyed our stay at Be Live Canoa very much and would come back again. The animation team did a great job. There are very good quality activities all day long, live music every day, and night entertainment . Food is good and it has a nice variety of restaurant to choose from. Ground very well kept. Restaurant staff were most of them very nice and they strived to make you feel welcome, but in a few cases we noticed they seemed a little bit disorganized. For example: On several occasions that we went to the buffet restaurant, we would get up to get our dessert and by the time we would come back to our table, it had already been cleared, no drinks, nothing left. Super fast clearing tables (just be aware of that specially the days the restaurant is packed because it is soooo big that I guess it is hard for them to keep track of where people are) and then if we would order another drink, by the time the drink was there we were done. Anyway, let me clarify that that did not bother us that much.
Overall rooms were clean, but our toilet did not meet the standards, could have been muuuuuch cleaner. Also, there was a spot of black mold on a the ceiling.
I would also like to note that when I am on vacation I like some quiet time in the mornings and they had some construction going on, so noise would start pretty early in the morning.
I don't want to discourage anybody. I would repeat the experience, because apart from the above mentioned everything was excellent. Nice stay!

“Excellent vacation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

It's the second time I'm in Be Live and we had a great time. The resort is beautiful, clean and tranquillll. The crew are nice and make your stay very enjoyable. We traveled a group of almost fourth people which made this vacation even better.

The room is ok. We didn't use it much. Leaves in the morning, coming back at the evening to take a shower and leave again....

The shows are very funny

The pool was dirty so we used the beach most of the time. Go to Alta, the booth after. The
stores for a great massage.

“Not great for Americans”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Spent 5 days there in mid-January. It was ok. The best part is definitely the beach, but you could get the same thing at better resorts in the area. The place is set up for Europeans, with the staff speaking mostly Spanish, Italian, or French. The few staff members who spoke English had a poor grasp of the language. The service was fair to poor. Check-in was at 3:00, and my room wasn't available until almost 5:00. Housekeeping ignored my do not disturb sign on a number of occasions. Bartenders openly ignored us. Waitresses walked right past us. I was only able to get one fresh pool towel during the entire stay. Each time I tried to get a new one, I was told they wouldn't have fresh towels for at least 30 more minutes. The food is fine, as long as you don't set the bar too high and don't expect the most sanitary conditions. The rooms aren't too bad really. My only complaint would be the A/C never really got the room cool. I learned to set the bar low enough that by the time I discovered the ants in my room I wasn't too bothered. If I'm ever back in the area I'll definitely shop around for a better place.

“GOOD PRICE, EXCELLENT SERVICE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I would return to hotel Canoa in a heart beat.. The hotel is not too big, the service is excellent from the reception to the restaurants, the animation team and housekeeping/bell service. I've been there on an adult trip and a family one, both were to my expectations. I really enjoyed the new modern the lobby bar and the Japanese Restaurant. Wat I also like about this hotel is the nature, the little ponds, the flowers , the trees always well kept. They also have plenty of pool and beach chairs for everyone. I've been during high seanson and low season and it has never been a problem. Enjoy your trip. ML

Room Tip: It dpeends on your liking, they have plenty of room facing the pool, the gardens.
