“Excellent hotel on lovely island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Stayed here at the end of October with my daughter. It was hard to get an idea of what the island is like as most of the hotels and restaurants had already closed for winter. Walking around though the island is attractive and everyone friendly.
The hotel certainly represented great value for money. It has free wifi, aircon, and really lovely staff who could not be more helpful. The room I was in could with a little updating but I will certainly stay here again on my return

“Bad choice!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

I am trying to thing something good to say for the hotel but i cannot find. As soon as we got there, we noticed that there was some hair in the shower and we informed the responsible lady to come and clean it.. But it was not only that.. there was a bad smell that came out of the bathroom, especially when the water was running.
The 2 glasses on the friedge were dirty, the floor under the bed, it was as it hadn t been cleaned for months and the towels that we were given were torn!
As far as the size of the room is concerned, our room it was ok, but it was very noisy because it was over the pool.
But the thing that made everything looked worst is the personnel 's attitude. When we left, we complained for all the things above speaking in a gently way but the lady there, always with an ironic behavior, she only said that if we didin t like it, we should have gone or that we should have informed her earlier, and not at the end, for every little thing we found .
Our plan was to stay on the island just for a night.. so lets say, we could stand it.. But if it was for more, we would had definitely changed hotel..

“mixed feelings but we had a lovely time”

Well placed hotel, just around the corner from the sandy beach and a few metres from the ferry boat, mini markets, bike hire etc. The staff/owners of this hotel make their guests feel welcome and are accomodating to your every whim. We stayed in the 6 bed apt. (Although we had to make up the extra 2 beds which were hide aways located under the existing beds). Well furnished, with all the ammenities needed for a S/Catering holiday located opposite the main hotel complex, and much quieter! Our 3 children + friend (teenagers) had a great time at the pool and we could leave them alone without worrying. The beach ( where we sat) is clean and shallow, perfect for very young children. There are umbrellas and lounges that the tavernas on the beach let you use without paying, as long as you buy a beer or something from them. Be aware that the 'Greek' night at the hotel is pricey and the "buffet" deplorable, stay away from the wine (my mum was extremely ill the next day and she didn't drink much, the rest of us drank beer). We enjoyed the program which is really Greeky, maybe a tad too much if you are non Greek, but the owners of the hotel make a real effort to get everyone in a jolly mood. Keep in mind that the program finishes in the early hours of the morning (3a.m.), so, if you're planning a quiet holiday maybe it's not the place for you. My elderly parents and sister stayed in 2 rooms at the main hotel by the pool which was noisy. On departure, the owners were very accomodating in that we could leave our cases in a designated area and there is a separate room for showering and changing, once you've vacated your room.

Room Tip: For more privacy and more quiet, request a room not looking onto the pool.

“Friendly, good value hotel in excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2010

We stayed at this hotel in August and can certainly recommend it, as it has an affordable and relaxing restaurant, nice little pool, is pleasantly located behind the centre of Skala and the staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed in the apartment across the road so can't comment on the rooms, and although the apartment was slightly dark and the sofas were annoying it had excellent air conditioning, comfortable beds, was cleaned daily and was very good value overall. One word of warning: the hotel do a Greek night on Tuesdays which is late and noisy, so if you're a light sleeper either join in or get some earplugs!

Also recommended are the Hook Club, a beautiful little beach club 5 minutes walk east of Skala next door to Rosy's Little Village, where you can sunbathe, have drinks and snacks, and have a dip in the crystal-clear water. Hotel Andreas has an affordable rooftop restaurant with excellent views at night - get there by 8:30pm so you can choose the tables with the best views. Aponisos was also beautiful and the little beach platform
at Limonaria was great for diving, but if you're taking the bus there then make sure you arrive 10 minutes early. And take plenty of water to drink.

Finally, when going to Skala I'd recommend taking the slow car ferry as it's much more enjoyable and romantic than the hydrofoils, which in any case only go to Mylos about a mile away.
