“Still dreaming of this!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

We booked for 3 days. I now wish it was for a lot longer. Bryan, the owner, deserves special mention. He is a charming roguish Welshman who takes pride in his hotel, and takes time for his guests. We were collected from the ferry and made feel extremely welcome, Bryan taking the time to chat with us, tell us where everything was, point out some other guests, show us our rooms, give directions to beaches. Our room had a magnificent view of the sea and a small balcony. The room accommodation is simple and functional with nets covering the openings to keep mosquitoes at bay. There was definitely an air of familiarity between guests in the hotel, and we later learned that many guests were on return trips and regularly return. Special mention to George too, who runs the bar. Great cocktails.

The location is beautiful. The island is relatively inexpensive. There's one or two really excellent restaurants in the town, especially if you are fond of fresh fish. People are friendly. The weather was above 30C during the day which my wife loves but too hot for me, but in the evening and at night, it was very pleasant.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the sea

“Basic of the basics”

Spent a few days here and although the owner was very helpful & friendly I'm afraid the rooms are in need of some work. Bathroom & toilet are one - can hardly move whilst having a shower without touching the toilet itself, its so small. There are no toiletries and the towels (tiny) weren't changed. Breakfast (!) not worth getting up for - 3 small bowls of cereal, stale bread & 1 type of jam. Coffee was from a thermos. The hotel itself is about a 15 minute walk to the main square. Agistri was great for chilling out but re: hotel, we would stay elsewhere next time for the same money, if not cheaper.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay at the Agistri Club. We especially appreciate this opportunity to explain some aspects of our service:

Included in our rates is a simple Continental breakfast and we offer full-English to those who wish to pay extra. This ensures that those who do not require an extensive breakfast do not pay for it and that those who prefer something extra receive freshly prepared food and not that which is pre-cooked and preserved in a bain-Marie.

Breakfast at the Club is provided all morning from 08:30 when the fresh bread is delivered and a domestic appliance is used to filter top-brand coffee which is then transferred to a thermos to retain its flavour rather than kept cooking on the filter hot plate.

The provision of toiletries other than soap increases over-all costs and we prefer to give our guests the option of purchasing from our reception such items as shampoo, shaving cream, and sun lotions.

As for room service, bedding is changed each three days and towels, one large and one small per guest, are changed on request.

Finally I apologise for the bathroom layout. However it is common in Greek accommodation for the en suite toilet and shower to occupy the same space.

“Romantic hideaway”

Went for a short weekend to this fabulous place and enjoyed each and every moment. The view from our room was stunning! Rooms are clean and neat. Loved the gourmet food served every night in the taverna. Brian and Henriette ,the owners, are great hosts and will do everything to make your stay pleasent. Henriette, the wonderful taste of your apple gebak is still in our mouth. We sure be back.

“Pleasant and convenient place to stay”

My husband and I were travelling with our 7-year-old daughter. My husband's mother and her husband were also with us. This was our first visit to Agistri. We were warmly welcomed by Bryan. In many years of travelling and staying in low-, middle- and high-budget accommodations, I've rarely experienced a hotel owner taking the time to sit down and have a long chat with his guests, as Bryan did. (It turned out that we had some common acquaintances on another Greek island.) The location of the hotel is excellent. It's a short stroll to beaches and the town, with all its restaurants and shops. In town one can catch buses to explore other parts of the island. (Bryan can recommend walking and bus excursions to suit your party and schedule.) Our room was basic, but clean and quiet, with a small balcony overlooking the sea. The food at the hotel's restaurant is very good. I was impressed by the vegetarian dinner I got the first night. The meat-eaters in my party said their meals were excellent. Our daughter enjoyed playing with the owners' daughter and a neighbour girl. Bryan drove us to the port when we left and then went to the trouble of returning some extra boat tickets that we had mistakenly purchased (giving the money to my in-laws, who were staying for another day). Apart from a bit of an order mix-up during dinner our second night, we enjoyed a very pleasant, relaxing stay.
