“Mixed feelings...”

I have mixed feelings about our stay at Bill & Coo but will be as honest as I can in this review.
We stayed for two weeks in September 2011. We were given a complimentary drink by the pool whilst we completed the small amount of paperwork and were then shown to our room, which, on a positive note, had almost as much outdoor space as indoor and the outdoor jacuzzi was great for sipping a cocktail watching the sun go down. We were also given a mobile phone for the duration of our stay, so if we ever needed anything B&C were never far away.
The breakfast choice is fair, however, you are charged extra if you stray from the fixed menu options and order a cappucino or a waffle. The lunch menu did not change once (!) in the two weeks of our stay. On our first day we ordered a burger, caeser salad & two glasses of wine -for the princley sum of 65 Euros - an experience not to be repeated...
I can't comment on dinner as we never ate at the hotel in the evening - the restaurant looked quite cold, uninviting and was nearly empty every night - however, that could have been due to the late season.
However the most infuriating thing at B&C are the sunbeds! These are single beds but with a double matress - so you can't separate them - great if both you & your partner like sun or both like shade - but what if you don't? We found one sunbed that (with the help of an umbrella) my husband could enjoy the shade & I could enjoy the sun, but the beds are so close together your options are limited.
The other point is that when B&C are busy - there aren't enough sunbeds for the guests - so you really do need to "reserve" your sunbed at breakfast; something I hate - and if you do like shade - there aren't enough umbrellas for the sunbeds...
Again on a positive note Mykonos Town is also close at hand - about a 10 -12 minute walk, so plenty of eateries to choose from. My only comment is that Mykonos Town gets really busy when the cruise ships came in - and that was late season in September - not sure we could cope with the number of cruise ships that visit in the high season! - far too many people!!!
To close, Bill & Coo is marketed as a Luxury Boutique Hotel - I'm not sure the description quite fits the "bill". I would describe B&C as more of a Contemporary Boutique Hotel - the luxury touches just aren't there.
So, would I recommend B&C for a two or three night stay whilst hopping around the Greek Islands? Yes
Would I recommend B&C for a two week stay? No.
Would I return to B&C? No.

“Honeymoon from heaven”

Oh I wish I could live there! Beautiful boutique resort I booked for a few nights on our honeymoon. We had our own verandah with spa and billowing white curtains and white sunlounges. The breakfast (included) was amazing and the chef made what ever you wanted. I would have liked a little more privacy from the balcony but other than that I cannot fault the place. Stunning pool, lovely suite, great staff, easy location (walking distance to township). We left the hotel to explore the island most days... kind of wish we just stayed at the hotel all day!

Room Tip: i booked the suite with the spa... amazing. View wasn't too bad either.

“SUPERB”

Went to Bill & Coo first week of September 2011, the staff, accomodation (room with outdoor jacuzzi) was outstanding. From the double sunbeds, overlooking the bay which is spectacular you cannot fault this special place. The night life (a 10 minute walk into town) was quiet because of the time of year but you could see the potential, and we found some lovely restaurants to eat recommended by the Bill & Coo staff at reception. The pooside drinks and at the bar in the evening are a little expensive but with the surroundings you are in coupled with 5 star accomodation and service, you simply pay for what you get, we will be going back. PS less than 10 minutes transfer to and from the airport, what more do you want !

Room Tip: we had one with jacuzzi but i would suspect all rooms are superb

“Brilliant........but flawed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

We stayed at B&C for 5 days in September 2011.

The staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble.

The food is fabulous albeit a tad overpriced (and the current Euro position doesn't help) but you get what you pay for. Joanna & Nico's on the beach below B&C is brilliant and a must - and she actually may be the original "Shirley Valentine", lovely lady, but I digress.

The hotel itself is clean, well maintained and pleasant, no complaints there. We stayed in room 202 and it is lovely with a great view of the bay and sunsets. As documented elsewhere here, I can see that room 201 may be noisy but if you can sleep through a bit of noise from the pot wash, there shouldn't be a problem.

They organised a gastronomy evening with an Italian Michelin starred chef while we were there and both the food and the service from the hotel staff (who obviously were unfamiliar with the dishes) was sensational.

So here comes the bad part and this is a very personal thing so may not worry all of you.

When I pay for 5 star accommodation and service I'm afraid that I expect to have the restaurant segregated into smoking and non-smoking areas. I appreciate that the restaurant is open-air but nonetheless B&C make no effort in this direction and I feel that it is insulting to both the chef and his diners to allow this situation to exist. Clearly, this cannot be enforced around the pool but in the dining areas I feel this is inexcusable. On the evening of the gastronomical event, we had smokers either side of us smoking between each plate !!

So to summarise, if you're a smoker, B&C is not to be missed. However if, like me, you cannot abide the smell of cigarette smoke whilst eating, you may want to forget B&C (and maybe Greece altogether) which would be a shame. Perhaps, a word with the head waiter might be in order.

Anyway, non-smokers, you've been warned.

Room Tip: Probably best to avoid 201

“Stunning place - once we got upgraded!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

Having just come from an excellent few days in Sun Rocks Hotel in Santorini, Bill and Coo had a lot to live up to - and managed to do that and more. The pool/bar area are beautiful, with postcard views and a fun atmosphere.

I thought the restaurant was fairly average for breakfast and lunch and very overpriced for what you got, and paying extra for an expresso for breakfast when spending EUR450 a night was frankly insulting. Also EUR60 for a club sandwich, ordinary chicken salad and two OJs was ridiculous. Because of that we didn't eat there in the evening (and found numerous lovely places in Mykonos town where you actually got what you paid for).

However despite this the stay was great. The first night we were in a standard room - which was pretty standard. Fairly small, tiny bathroom and ok balcony. To be honest had we stayed there at that price for the week I would have given the place 3 stars.

The key was getting the free upgrade to the honeymoon suite. This felt like the right sort of place for the price. Obviously the upgrades aren't guaranteed but it made all the difference when it came on day two. The honeymoon suite was beautiful - large private terrace with jacuzzi for sunset views, big open plan room and nice simple design. Being able to use that and occasionally go up to the main pool for a swim/drink was perfect.

We went across for a drink to join a couple staying in one of the Bill and Coo Suites so had a look around - and it was amazing. Well worth it if cash is no issue.

The staff were excellent, friendly and fun - especially the barman who gave lots of good tips. Mykonos itself was fantastic and we fell in love with it. All the fun of Ibiza but a slightly older and more relaxed crowd. Can't wait to go back and will certainly stay at B&C (having guaranteed the upgrade in advance!).

Room Tip: Standard rooms would be ok value for EUR200-300. I wouldn't pay more than that. Honeymoon suite...
