My group arrived at this hotel late, probably around 4PM and were settled into our rooms quickly and efficiently by the staff. I was assigned to a room on the second floor of the spa building (room 606), about two thousand yards from the reception/pool area. My room had a view of reception and other buildings in the complex, but I couldn't see the ocean or the town. Some rooms had lovely views of the harbor. On the other hand, my terrace included a hot tub, cafe table and pair of chairs with privacy glass separating me from my neighbors. The hot tub was clean and piping hot.
The room itself was quite small, but comfortable. It had the oddest lighting behind a pierced scrim incorporated into the headboard. You'll have to see the photos as it's hard to describe. Above the scrim was decorative swagged mosquito netting. Mombasa it was not. The walls were white. Furniture was painted pistachio green with soft green bedspread and drapes. There was a small flat screen TV, a pair of night stands, vanity, luggage rack, and a series of very large closets which included a small refrigerator and safe. Floor was polished limestone. Air conditioning was exceptionally effective.
The bath was tiny with a very small shower set above a small trough with a curtain. Water invariably got all over the place when used, but there was a drain in the floor. It was ok, but not very efficient. I find this is often so in European hotels. There was not much room around the sink for toiletries. I've seen better bathrooms. Water pressure and hot water were plentiful and blow drier and nice soaps and lotions were available.
Breakfast was in the next building down and was quite nice. The room was comfortable with breakfast food at various stations. Cereals were in one area, eggs, sausages, and colds meats in another; and yogurt, fruits and sweets in another area. Most of the tables were set for four. Service at breakfast was exceptional.
The real stars of the Mykonian K Resort are the public rooms, the poolside restaurant, and the splendid double salt water pool. One pool flows into the other and there are plenty of lounges, towels, shower facilities, and a hot tub. I spent a very pleasant afternoon lounging, swimming, sipping drinks. Lovely. The bar was nice, but the bartender didn't understand American drinks...so it goes.
A trek into town involves walking down a very steep hill with sidewalks part way. Caution is advised. It takes about fifteen to twenty minutes to get to the main shopping area. Shopping in Mykonos is quite good. There are plenty of shops and there is lots to buy. And the town is marvelously photogenic.
I liked this hotel even though a little far from town. Facilities were clean and pleasantly decorated; staff was courteous and efficient; and food was excellent.
