“Great location, family run, great value , beautiful views...PARADISE”

We stayed at the Madalena for 11 nights in Sept 2010. Madalena , her mom Elena and younger sister made us feel right at home. We were given a beautiful room with a view to die for. Great advice on beaches, restos and shopping. Breakfast was delicious and sufficient to start our day in Paradise. Walk into town 5 minutes so the location could not have been better. Would definitely stay at this hotel again. Highly recommended.

“Great Hotel, Excellent Location, Excellent staff”

After booking online, I called the hotel to confirm my transfer...I followed up with an email, and Elena responded almost immediately. We had a free transfer from the port to the hotel. On reaching the hotel, we were met by Madalena, the friendly and helpful manageress. Its a family hotel run by Madalena and her mother Elena, so you get the personal service that you want, especially since we didn't understand Greek and needed advice on what to do and where to go.

The hotel is a short walk to the town (about 5 minutes stroll)...its downhill to the town, so be prepared for a gentle uphill climb on your way back.

Rooms were in excellent condition, having been recently renovated. We booked a twin room, but the two rooms that we were offered had an extra bed each, so perhaps talk to the hotel if you're travelling in a group of 3...it might cost the same as a twin room.

The price was good in comparison to other hotels, and we definately felt like we got MORE than we bargained for. Breakfast was great too...

I would definately stay there again...

“Modern Beautiful Hotel with great service will make you spend the best vacaction”

The Madalena hotel has big sized rooms typically Mykonian with high standards, plasma screens, marble bathrooms. The hotel instantly makes you feel at home giving a cozy side to it. The views from the room are ineffable, looking at all sides of the port. The impeccable service cater to all needs and is genuinely friendly, though giving you total privacy. The service is what one would expect of a 5 star hotel, irreproachable. I recommend The Madalena without reservation and urge everyone to consider vacationing in Mykonos as it has the exciting nightlife, without a doubt the best culinary cuisine, virgin beaches and an instant refill to a busy lifestyle.

“Great hotel, great people”

My boyfriend and I arrived at the Madalena Hotel towards the beginning of an extended trip through Greece and Turkey. Since we're traveling for a bit longer than usual, we were looking for accommodations that offer a balance of location, service and comfort. Based on previous reviews, we settled on the Madalena Hotel, located just outside of the immediate center of Mykonos town. Because the town is pedestrian-only, being outside of town is better since getting to the beaches (on a scooter, anyway) would be a pain.

We stayed there for 4 nights and were extremely happy with the accommodations and even happier still with the service and staff, all of which were outstanding. The hotel proprietor, Madalena (the shared name is serendipitous) is amazing and offers service levels that I have come to expect from larger, resort--sized properties. "Yes, no problem" was her stock reply to every request or question, which made the hotel among the most pleasant places we have ever visited.

The hotel is situated on somewhat of a steep cliff, with unobstructed views of the harbor and close enough to town to walk in a few minutes and far enough to be removed from the hordes.

The room was smallish though because it offered plenty of closet and bureau storage, we were able to unpack and live very comfortably for our 4 nights. The bed was very comfortable and included a high quality comforter (with great air conditioning) and feather pillows. The room also included a refrigerator and free wireless Internet. The room also flat panel TV.

The room opened up to a terrace with tables and chairs and a perfect view of the harbor and evening sunsets.

Breakfast was included and an very nice, above average, fair of fruit, breads, meats, cheeses crepes, and eggs served any style. Coffee was served on request (my ONLY knock against the place was that I couldn't help myself to coffee and instead, had to ask for each cup).

We asked Madalena for help in negotiating scooter rentals, shopping, beaches, eateries, etc., and in rare form, she offered utterly unbiased suggestions, not colored by kick backs or conflicts of interest (which is a pet peeve of ours). She even drew a map when commercial maps weren't clear enough. For restaurants, she offered suggestions that the "tourists love" (that she did not) and others that were "authentically Greek." For my partner, who doesn't sleep well with feather pillows, she secured foam pillows from another property.

For dirty laundry, they arranged - on a Sunday - to have a local service pick up our bag and returned our clothes folded that same day (at standard rates).

While this isn't a complete itemization of why we liked this hotel so much, it does offer a perspective of our time there and the premium service they provide.

As someone who has offered many critical reviews of several properties, I offer only positive reviews of this gracious and warm hotel.

“Going back for 3rd visit this year!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2010

This was our second visit this year. having stayed there a number of times previously. By the end of 2009 the hotel was becoming rather tired, but we stayed there for the friendly welcome and convenient location. After an extensive renovation over the winter this hotel is totally transformed. Only the external walls remain the same! Some have new private terraces and several of the smaller rooms have been amalgamated so that there are slightly fewer rooms than before. They are now all spacious with marble flooring, lovely comfortable new beds, armchairs, flatscreen tvs, hairdryers and lovely new bathrooms with large soft towels. The breakfast buffet has been greatly extended to include bacon and eggs as well as various cold meats, cheeses, fruit, breads, croissants etc and pancakes with chocolate sauce! When complete, the new marina being constructed north of the old harbour will enhance the great sea views from the terraces and many of the rooms. We plan to return before the end of the season.
