Consists of two buildings.
1 – Main hotel which has approximately 100 junior suites
2- Apartment block which has approximately 70 apartments
I spent my first night in the apartment block because when I tried to book a junior suite, very much at the last minute, the hotel was full. The building was well positioned. Each apartment had a large balcony with both table and chairs and sun beds for two, and each balcony got the sun either in the morning or afternoon. The apartment was a good size and very clean. The twin beds were comfortable. The rooms were rather shabby and could do with being renovated. Some items were broken or missing, but when I reported this at reception, a maintenance man was sent immediately to repair or renew what he could. However, two things, the wardrobe drawer and the balcony table were completely broken and not repairable. In its current condition I would only consider this accommodation to be 2-3 star.
On day two I was moved to the main building and into a junior suite. The suite was spacious, stylish and modern. I could not fault anything and I would recommend always booking accommodation in the main building (approx 20 euros a day more than the apartment block).
There was a television in each accommodation but the only channels in English were BBC News and one movie channel.
You can hire pool towels (refundable deposit of 10 euros per person), and a safe (20 euros deposit + 10 euros per week rental charge). There is one heated swimming pool (still very cold) and other unheated pools. Even in January people used all of the pools. There is a very well equipped gym, a spa centre and tennis courts.
All inclusive
All inclusive consists of breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and several bars serving drinks. The food is good quality, well prepared and plentiful. All meals are self-service buffet style. I found all staff helpful and friendly. As I am allergic to shellfish the chefs took great care in telling me the content of all the prepared food as some dishes called vegetarian did in fact contain sea food. I only had to ask for assistance and it was there. The service in the restaurant was superb. Tables were cleared of used plates very quickly.
All inclusive premium brands.
I paid a small extra charge at my travel agent in the UK for this and it was worth it. The premium brand service gave me brand name drinks and some free cocktails in the exclusive cocktail bar, plus a free trial at the spa.
Position/Location
The area of Adeje is slightly upmarket compared to Playa de las Americas. The hotel is at the top of a quite steep hill. It takes approximately 5-10 minutes to walk down to the sea front (slightly longer to walk back!). At the sea front if you turn left, it takes you to the harbour of Porto Colon and Playa de las Americas. If you turn right you are at a very classy area with a golden sand beach and safe swimming area and beyond this is a beach of volcanic stones.
Shopping
There is an abundance of bars, restaurants and tourist shops. While at the shops beware of electronic firms offering camcorders for tiny prices like 29 euros. They are a con and are run by gangsters. You will never be sold at these prices. Never hand over your credit card or cash until you have the item you want to purchase, fully boxed and with all the extras, in your hands. If something seems too cheap, it probably is. Don’t be sucked in. It is cheaper to buy off a legitimate dealer online than from the shops in Tenerife. The local market is held on Thursday and Saturday and is 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel.
Extras.
Our booking allowed us one night’s meal in the small a la carte restaurant and it was very good and much calmer and quieter than the main restaurant.
We also had one free session at the spa. I would recommend wearing flip flops for this as the floor surface is hard on the feet. The normal cost for an hour long spa session is 10 euros.
Entertainment.
The evening entertainment is very poor. I found the animation staff to be very enthusiastic and energetic but most of the guests were not interested in what was on offer. However, children were well catered for.
Summary
The guests were mainly German or Scandinavian with some British. I found all the staff to be friendly, courteous and well mannered, but then so was I. Unfortunately the same could not be said for all of the guests, many of whom were rude to the staff.
All things considered, this hotel tries hard. Some aspects are more like a three star than a four star, but I had a great holiday for not too much money. Good value.
Room Tip: always ask for junior suite and not apartment
