We stayed there last week for 7 days. Having researched 5 star Hotels it was between this and the Bahia Del Duque. We opted for this as it had less rooms and was further from the main area, which suited us as we wanted just a week of r and r.
Its about 20 mins can from the airport , approx €27 with tip. First impressions were good met at reception offered drink, checked in and shown to room. The room was upgraded to a villa. We stayed there for one night as although it had 2 levels and afforded us our own jacuzzi it does overlook a road which is busy. However we did change with no problem to a junior suite which was much bigger (no jacuzzi) but was in the main part and had great views and was very quiet. In fact room was superb and well appointed.
The hotel has 2 restaurants and a pool bar.
The main restaurant for breakfast and dinner is a buffer restaurant. Breakfast was fine if sometimes repetitive but dinner( we only went once on the 1st night) was OK. We're not into buffets , there was the usual salad bars etc and a hot plate where steaks and meats were cooked a la carte but beyond that some of the vegetables and fries were tepid - normal buffet really not 5 star.
The A' La Carte restaurant was sold as a gastronomic Canarian experience. When we ate their it was awful. The dishes were bland with no flavour, no atmosphere and really price at over €150 for 2 people was ridiculous.
The pool bar was nice and a had fair choice of food. Staff in all the restaurants were fantastic and really friendly.
The pool area offers 3 pools with one heated - loads of space and room, and the cabanas are recommended at no extra cost.
The bar at night was drab to be honest - very dark , lacking in any atmosphere, and the entertainment was as you'd expect. It just needs brightening up, maybe its the time of the year.
As we were on B&B we ate out most nights. The area nearest the hotel is the upmarket Playa de Duque about 10 mins walk down a steep hill. Note that this won't suit you if you're not that fit.
We found a restaurant here that was great. LA Ronna was really very good and again staff were great. Also The Mirador looked well appointed and popular which is next door. We also ventured in to Cost Adeje ctr and and had a fabulous steak in Coeur De Fillet, would recommended. Menu a bit dated and have to run the gauntlet of guys/girls getting you into their own restaurants along the way, but this what its like. We didn't go back again - but would recommend the restaurant.
Also in Los Abrigos is a restaurant called La Roque - Michelln recommended. We had a fantastic experience and I've submitted a seperate review.
Just near us is a lovely little village called La Caletta with some nice fish restaurants. You can cab it for €5 or walk in 20 mins. Well worth a visit for lunch or dinner
So overall had a lovely time. I'd recommend the hotel and would go back. The rooms , views location, staff , pool area were top notch - 5 star. Why I haven't given 5 stars is the buffet restaurant ( we've been to other Small Leading Hotels of the World) was good not great.
The bar area inside the hotel was drab and a disjointed so a little disappointing.
Beyond those small things , and at this level its the small things that make the difference, we'd definitely go back, just for the welcome alone. Recommended.
