We booked the Guayarmina Princess for a late minute winter getaway. Overall we were very satisfied.
Emailed the hotel in advance asking for a higher room and got one. Nice room with balcony and sea view on 2nd floor of main building. We were a little too near the noisy air conditioning machinery of the hotel next door (which is rather close) and initially requested a change. The reception staff were happy to arrange this in a couple of days but in the end we decided to stay where we were as the noise wasn't too intrusive.
I disagree completely with previous comments about the reception staff. Found them very pleasant, helpful and professional. This is a large, busy hotel but we never had to wait long for attention.
The public areas of the hotel are lovely, very clean and well maintained. Pool area is small for the size of the hotel but we never had any trouble getting sun loungers (and we don't save loungers - can't stand the "towels on loungers brigade"). I agree the loungers are close together. I much prefer a hotel with gardens where you can find a quiet spot.
As others have commented the food was good but perhaps a little monotonous. Restaurant staff were great, very hard working and helpful. The restaurant was a bit manic (too small for size the hotel?). The first night was confusing with guests buzzing everywhere around the buffet but once we got to know where we were going it was fine (though not exactly relaxing!). I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone to eat at 6.30pm. We saw long queues at that time. I can't understand why people would choose to do that?? Why not enjoy the Happy Hour, have a cocktail (or two!) and go later? We used to go down just before 8 and never had to wait for a table.
Evening entertainment is variable, drinks expensive (except Happy Hour!) - but local bars are pretty cheap.
The position of the hotel is excellent - right on the promenade. Pleasant walks in both directions. Wasn't very keen on the area. It was my first time in Tenerife and don't enjoy English bars, karaoke etc. But some parts of the resort are very nice and it was fine for a winter break.
Things we didn't like about the hotel..... Having to pay through the nose for the fridge and safe. That's very poor!! Prohibition on electrical devices in the bedrooms except shavers and hairdryers. We ignored that - never holiday without our trusty travel kettle as we can't exist without a decent cup of tea!!
Overall, a good value holiday as we paid a reduced price. Wouldn't want to pay much more for it though. We regularly holiday in the Canaries in January and we have stayed at better places.
