“great value for money”

had a lovely holiday here end of jan. All inclusive saved us a fortune and standard of food was fantastic. cannot beleive the amount of drinks we were allowed , brilliant. yes rooms were a bit dated but who stays in their room on holiday ? we were on the tenth floor and had a fab view of the port and mountains. Domingo in the restaraunt was a character he worked so hard and was so funny. we went to an Irish Bar along the road, Liam the singer is great and a good comedian, in the temple bar. only downside and not the hotels fault was the extremely rude oaps of a certain nationality who were so arrogant, queueing to get the same seats and sunbeds etc. I have never met so many rude old people before, no manners at all. We are in our early 50s and were taken aback by the ignorance of elderly guests. Overall hotel was fantastic, bur the area was a bit dirty and unkempt with lots of trip flyers lying all over the place. would reccomend it as the food was fab.

“We had a lovely holiday”

Stayed from 21st to 28th January. Were first allocated a room on the first floor (room 101),next to stairs and lifts ,room overlooked a flat roof with not much of a view, also on the Sunday found a man sunbathing on the roof right outside our room. We had requested a high floor so asked at reception if we could have a room on higher floor. Nothing was available until Monday23rd but we were then moved to 5th floor. The room was clean and comfortable, could do with an update though. TV had English BBC and ITV channels which was useful. Reviews state a bun fight for food, we never encountered this although the restaurant was busy,it held 500 people and the selection was outstanding.No-one could possibly complain about the standard or choice of food available. The evening entertainment was fairly good on the whole. I can only say a big thank-you to the manager and his staff who worked tirelessly and under great pressure at times, but they were always polite and helpful. One suggestion though, we were offered an early cold breakfast before leaving (5am) but couldn't have any cereals or tea/coffee as no milk available and cold drink machine not switched on.Had fruit and bread but would have appreciated some milk.

“Not a 4 star Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Stayed January 15-26 2012 for 11 nights on half board. Booked through Bookings.com who advertised a room with spectacular sea views. On arrival found we were on the first floor overlooking a main road and we had to pay extra for a room upgrade.
The dining room was like a bun fight at the OK coral with too many people fighting for a table and then to find that most of the buffet food was lukewarm. Our bathroom was a joy to behold with the the toilet needing about 8 to 10 flushes to discharge the waste. This problem was reported to reception but the situation did not improve. The shower ran hot/cold with no temperature control. Our balcony appeared to be suffering from concrete cancer and my wife was nervous when walking onto it because it creaked.
The lifts were completely inadequate and we sometimes had to wait for 10 minutes at busy times. The entertainment we found to be mediocre and we were disappointed.
Some outside terraces seemed to have been abandoned with no available seating.
To summarize this is a poor 4 star hotel in need of major upgrading.
Having previously stayed at the Iberostar Hotel Las Dalias nearby I would strongly recommend that Hotel as a alternative.
Be cautious when making online bookings with booking agencies as they do not always represent the room description that is allocated on arrival .

Room Tip: Pool facing room fourth level or above. Room 462 always in the shade. Check room before unpacking...

“Holiday in Tenerife”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We stayed at the Bouganville from 12 to 19 January. The hotel is well positioned between Adeje and Playa Americas which means a long lazy walk either way with plenty of opportunities to stop along the way. Also the bus service is busy but regular.

The hotel was good albeit the rooms are slightly tired - a makeover is due - but this is not a problem as they are perfectly acceptable. The food was very good with plenty of choice. Only slight problem was you had to find your own table as the hotel was busy. Again this was no problem as it only took a short time for the waiters to set the table.

After being expensive several years ago the prices in Tenerife are now very reasonable - you'll get a beer during the day for 1 to 1.5 euros - this does rise at night but still cheap enough. There are plenty restuarants and the meals are not expensive. Also the entertainment at the bars round the hotel was good.

We visited Santa Cruz by local bus and you can get to other places like Peurto de la Cruz easily - the bus station is only 5 minutes away. Best to get a bono pre paid card as this saves 30 to 40% on bus fares. You can get these at the bus station.

We didn't go on any trips but these seemed to be the same price as several years ago.

We flew Ryan air - not my first choice airline - but on this occassion I have no complaints - planes were dead on time and arrived early.

All in all we had a great time (weather was great) and I would recommend the hotel, but remember you get what you pay for.

Room Tip: We were on the non sunny side. This was not a problem for us and the views were good. However if y...

“Near the beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

person found this review helpful

We stayed one night here in December, so pls read this review in that context. It's a massive hotel which looks & feels like some sort of 70s carbunkle. On the plus side I thought the location was good - it's close to the beach and restaurants and has a couple of pools (we didn't stay long enough to try them out or see how much sun they get). Breakfast is good, but packed with hundreds of people all eating at the same time, so if you want a relaxed, intimate breakfast, this is not the place for you. Our room was ok, but the beds (a twin set-up, not a proper double) had seen better days and so I've definitely slept better in other places. If you can get a good deal I would recommend it, but I wouldn't pay over the odds for it.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a beach view.
