We booked this last minute and to be honest as we have stayed here before didn't think it would be too bad. Traveled in the beginning of February. Well placed in Playa Fanabe with about a 5 minute walk to the nice sandy beach. Lots of lovely cheap restaurants along the prom in Porto Colon. There is quite a hill to walk up to get back to Playa Olid so it might not suit those with mobility issues.
Now for the place. There is a LCD screen in the reception area showing slides of lovely appointed rooms. Don't be fooled these are PROPOSED improvements to the property. We were allocated room 311 green, same level and right behind the pool. The room was very old and musty. The bathroom smelled of, well, bathroom things, yuck. The kitchen area is small with 2 electric rings, fridge without freezer, sink, coffee maker and toaster. There is no oven. There is no iron, if you want to use one there is a minimum of 1 weeks hire and it is 15 euros with a 10 euro deposit.(we were only staying 3 nights) There is no hairdryer, same rental options as the iron. If you want to watch TV there is a charge for this. The beds were typical Spanish fare, hard!! Also we asked for a double and got 2 singles pushed together, but this is also typical in the Mediterranean countries as well. There is no cleaning of the apartments on 3 days. Also where we were situated is the main thoroughfare through to reception. Every night we were woken by suitcases being hauled around at all hours, what time do people have to get there transport to the airport!! 3am, 4am, 5am and so on. There are 2 pools and also a sundeck overlooking the top pool, there seemed to be plenty of chairs and cushions to go around. the top pool only gets sun on one side, the other is shrouded in shade all day.
We will not be staying at Playa Olid again because I resent being asked to pay for things that I would expect to be included. there is an American saying, "being nickle and dimed". Maybe I am to used to going to Vegas and just expect more for my £60 a night room only.

just got back from playa olid nice clean hotel stayed in room 402 this block is near to the road and found trafic noise a problem which is a shame as the hotel itself is very good value for money

We stayed here for a week, rooms were very clean and were cleaned regularly, cleaning staff excellent! Good location to beach restaurants and few bars near by. If you didn't want to leave the complex you have everything you need from pool bar, night entertainment and 24hr reception (good for early check out)! Only thing is some noise from other apartments due to thin walls can disrupt your sleep in! Overall I would stay here again!

Spent 7 nights at Playa Olid as others have said it was a little dated but very clean and I have experienced worse in a 4 star hotel. Food was good again perhaps a little on the cool side but there was a microwave you could use. There was a good choice and they had speciality nights. We were all inclusive but the price was good so did eat out for dinner most nights. The snack bar by the pool was very good and made the food to order. The staff in the hotel could not be more helpful and was suprised to hear otherwise by others.
Some people had complained about the alcohol but did not find this a problem if you wished branded spirits you could have them if you were a real ale specialist this would not be a hotel for you as they only had lager.
Area around the hotel suited our needs with a few bars we could walk to where entertainment was good. The Wigan Pier and The Pub which was only a short distance down the hill from the hotel and the Rum Pot and Star Bar not far from the Eugene Centre a 15 minute walk away. Although there were plenty of others. The weather was in the low to mid 20s all week and sunnier in the afternoon had a great time.
