Just returned from Tenerife yesterday and an 11 night stay at the Torviscas. Having read some of the reviews before we went, we did wonder what we would get when we arrived!
I honestly wonder what people want when they go away? I've seen reviews on here commenting about 1 English TV Channel and another complaining about the size of the TV. Sorry, but if people are paying good money to go to the sun and then spend most of their time trying to watch English Channels, then why not stay at home!!!!!
I totally agree with other comments about how tired the hotel is looking in places, but all in all, it's very clean, we had a good room at the back of the hotel on the 4th floor, and although a couple of cracked tiles in the bathroom, and dated decor I certainly wouldn't get stressed on a holiday about something as minor as that!
Also we saw complaints about the hard beds? I was expecting to go and sleep on bricks by the comments on here but the beds are firm NOT hard.......
Food is varied, and lots of it. Yes it can be the same/similar most evenings, but I think people forget they are catering for a hell of a lot of people all with different tastes. I can honestly say I had something different on each of the eleven nights we were there, simply by what I chose.
People forget that the restaurants outside in the resort are serving up the same menu each evening, but it's up to the individual to choose something different isn't it? You could definitely choose something different each evening at this hotel.
Staff were very good at the hotel, friendly, helpful, whichever location you were in.
Pool area was good, yes a lot of our international colleagues were down putting towels on their beds at 8am, but we still got a decent bed even at about 10am. Obviously this is February so not sure what it would be like in the height of the summer.. Some of the Brits were doing the same I hasten to add so if you can't beat them, join them!
We booked with First Choice / Thomson and wouldn't hesitate in booking with them again as we have done in the past. One of the reps, Charlie was excellent but we only saw him at the Welcome Meeting and when we booked an excursion with him. Two other lady reps I'm afraid we were very disappointed with on the other two occasions we saw them. They would do good to take note of how Charlie treated his customers, was not at all impressed with them and their blase attitude......
All in all a good holiday and would recommend this hotel and resort to others.
