My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the hotel however, would have reservations on returning. Therefore, I will attempt at giving a non biased review based on our experiance and expectations.
Staff were pleasant, polite, well presented and courteous. The room ours was a junior suite which was good but could do with a little redecoration. Choice of drinks at the bars could not be faulted, the views from the hotel were exceptional and the gardens were better than expected. Location was a little out of the way if you did not enjoy hill walking.
Resturant however, was manic at times appearing to be not large enough for the amount of guests if hotel was busy. The choice of food was plentiful with something for all tastes however, not cooked to the same standards that we have encountered at many other Melia hotels. It did not help that the busyness caused shoving and queing along the way. Many times my wife and I were eating our different choice of food at different times due to one or the other having to queue. This would most defineatly count to our reservation on returning.
The pool areas were very good with plenty of sunbeds and not too much laying of towels in the small hours of morning.
The lunchtime snackbar could only be considered as good with plenty of snack (junk food) type meals that was average. Although on Friday and Saturday evenings they did hold a BBQ there which we would describe as good and a rest from the hussle bussle of the main resturant.
One of the experiances we found odd was a non existant dress code. All Melia hotels we have stayed at previously expect men to wear a collared shirt and trousers albeit casual. We would not expect to go on holiday with black tie however, draw the line at casual being beach wear in the evening.
The hotel appears to be very popular with the Spanish who also appeared to outnumber other nationalities on the period we stayed there (late May) could be that this time is a Spanish holiday period.
We booked our airport transfer from the Melia website which we would not choose to do again. We had expected to have a limited amount of stops however, went around the lower half of the Island before reaching our hotel. For the return (we arrived on a Sunday) we received notification on the Tuesday of our pick up time for the return to the airport on the following Sunday. They got our flygt details incorrect and it took four days to resolve. I would advise if you plan going, to avoid the Melia transfer service on thier website.
The resort OK however, not a lot close by the vicinity of the hotel, it was a decent walk or taxi service to encounter more populated areas of bars resturants etc.
8th floor junior suite was good for privact with a balcony that had a table and chairs and sunbeds
