I travelled to this hotel with my husband, three kids and my brothers family. My first impressions of the hotel on arrival were - very dated interiors, all areas seemed deserted even the bar was empty, there was also creepy background music, picture the film "The Shining" and you get the general idea. The rooms were spacious but clean. The location of this property is its selling point, situated at the quieter end of Playa de palma near Can Pastellia. The hotel faces one of the most beautiful beaches I have seen and is cleaned every night and deserves its blue flag. We were halfboard, food on offer was adequate, served buffet style, consisting of three fish dishes every night out of five main courses, the other two were either rabbit, veal or pork, in ten days chicken was offered only once, as were chips, most nights cold hard boiled potatoes and frozen veg were the side dishes. The main reason I decided to write this review is to recommend this is not a family hotel, most of the guests were elderly german couples and the staff were definately not used to dealing with kids.
Apart from being the most arrogant and rude group of staff I had the misfortune to meet three days in we felt we could no longer stay within the
hotel at night (spent days at beach etc) . This was due to being ignored
when we asked for anything or ranted at in spanish and the children were
also subjected to this type of conduct which was an upseting and frightening experience. Luckily thier were 17 people in our party, the rest
booked a RIU hotel nearby, so we spent the remainder of our time at thier
hotel, in contrast thier staff were fantastic even getting to know all the children by name. I will not be returning to the Golden Playa or any Saint
Michael group hotel as this was apparently a four star and I dread to think
what the three star versions a like.
