“Great for an off season break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2007

My partner and I stayed here just after New Year. The hotel is excellent for a quiet break - good location, very good food, clean facilities and clean rooms. Excellent friendly staff also. We are young (early 20's) and the top floor of the hotel is full of elderly long stay Germans, so as long as this does not bother you its a really lovely hotel. Great value for money at this time of year. Only 10 minutes from the airport and a bus outside to Palma for one euro.

“Nice hotel, nice staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2006

The Acapulco Playa is a really nice hotel to stay at. The food was good, with lots of choice, and very plentiful. Really clean rooms. The staff are all friendly, and seem to be fluent in at least English, German and Spanish.

Location is excellent; right on the beach, very close to the airport (but not so close that it's a problem). You can easily catch the bus to downtown Palma, and with one switchover you can take the bus to the airport as well.

The only other thing I would have to say about this hotel is that it, like bascially all hotels on Playa de Palma, cater primarily to Germans, with the major base of the clientele being elderly Germans. In any case, I've become a big fan of this hotel, and will certainly stay there again.

“Great Hotel in a location with pluses and minuses”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2005

First the Acapulco Playa is well run, clean, courteously managed hotel of which we cannot speak too highly. The hotel food is first class and there appears to be a good espirit de corps amongst the staff. Our room was cleaned daily and we have absolutely nothing but praise for the hotel and its staff. You can pay a lot of money for poor service and this hotel provides value for money.

The hotel was built prior to the tourst boom, and in the lobby there is an aerial picture of the hotel taken in 1958. Since then it has been extensively expanded and remodelled, but the surrounding area of Playa de Palma has been developed into the German version of Magaluf. This is where the pluses and minuses start.

On the plus side, the hotel is right on the beach, adjacent to on beach catering. There is an excellent (and cheap) bus network with a stop right on your doorstep and the surrounding area has a variety of shops and entertainments. If you pay for a sea view (as we did) you will see some lovely sunsets through the palm trees over the bay of Palma from your balcony. Priceless.

On the minus side there is no parking, and several guests with hire cars got costly parking tickets for leaving their cars in the cramped side streets. At the height of season I imagine you may be hard pressed to find somewhere to park at all! The area caters predominantly (90%+) to Germans, and therefore if you don't speak German you may want to look at another area. The German guests themselves are model citizens for the most part and we got on well, albeit in sign language! By the way the staff DO speak excellent english and of course spanish so there is no problem there.

Mallorca is a wonderful island and you can get some great deals off season at the Acapulco Playa from the Grupotel website. A good time to go would be late October and/or early November when it may still be warm, though there are risks of bad weather compared to say, the Canaries. We got lucky and had sun and 72C all week with only a little cloud.

It's worth bearing in mind that even if you don't get beach time you have some great alternatives for enjoyment in Mallorca with the wonderful city of Palma 30 minutes away by buses that run until 2am for party goers and shoppaholics, as well as the beautiful interior or Mallorca which is as pretty as anywhere I've been. Mallorca beats Tenerife or Lanzarote into a cocked hat for beaches, shopping atmosphere and variety.

We would happily go to a Grupotel hotel again and regard the choice of the Acapulco Playa this time as a great success.

“Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2005

The overall stay at Hotel Acapulco in Mallorca was fantastic. For anyone in their 20's looking to be close to the party action, you are close but not in the middle. It is about a 5 block walk to the main party area, which was not bad at all.
The hotel itself was literally right on the beach, although are room did not have a straight view of the ocean. The hotel is one of the better in Mallorca, with a very nice pool, very clean hotel, and standard rooms. Probably the best part of the hotel was the amazing meals that they served. The meals, without a doubt, was the best part.
Anyone looking to go out at night: there are a few places along the beach, namely the Palace. It was a decent place, with techno on one side, R&B/Rap on the other. If you are looking for a top notch club, though, go to Tito's. We found some Tito reps on the beach that sold us a whole package, including shuttle bus tickets for the club, and I would rank it as one of the top clubs in the world (comparable to Paladium in Acapulco if you've ever been there).
Overall, the hotel and Mallorca in general were amazing.
