We previously stayed at a number of hotels in the vicinity, but due to the fact that more and more hotels close for winter, we had to look out for a new spot ...
The THB Maria Isabel usually does not close during winter; it is a 14-storey building with 12 floors of rooms. We stayed there on 2 occasions within one month each time at the 10th floor.
VIEWS:
While all rooms offer views into direction of the sea (400 yds away), our rooms (#1002 and 1003) had stunning views of the sea, of Palma harbour (partial view) and parts of the airport. Using good binoculars we could spend hours on our balcony watching boats, ferries and lots of planes !
Balconies also give some shelter from winds.
No other highrise buildings within 500 yds or so.
ROOMS:
Rooms are sized medium to large for a hotel built around 1970.
Bathroom is okay and on the spacious side. Walls are fairly thick.
RESTAURANT:
Always busy, even if the hotel is not fully booked. Quality of food is average (this is a 3-star property); selection is not too big, but okay.
SERVICE:
Overall, I would rate it as "Attentive".
As the area the hotel is in, is "territory" of german (-speaking) tourists, all "frontline"-staff we encountered spoke german very well.
REMARKS:
There are (only) 3 elevators and one of them has a persisting problem with overloading. During the rush for dinner, prepare for some waiting times in front of the elevators (or use the stairs ...)
CAR PARKING:
There is a small car park in front of the hotel and also nearby streets are okay to park your (rental) car.
POOL:
The outdoor pool is filled with salt water. Ladders into the pool can be tricky, especially for elderly people: We had to "rescue" a lady that couldn`t get out of the water; steps were much to high and handles were slippery.
Pool area is fair in size and well shielded from the street; sunbeds are free; no towels available.
