“worst service ever”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2009

We went all inclusive and were treated like second class citizens. we did not expect table service like other guests and appreciated the reason for different glasses. But they would only serve you in one corner of the bar and when you asked for ice they topped your drink up and said there was ice in the bucket. They then started giving us our spirits later in the evening in plastic glasses for inside consumption. When requesting proper glasses we got them but refills were put in the same glass despite them not knowing whose was whose and even when we changed drinks. We used the bar less frequently due to this but on the last evening we were in for a coffee and this was put into plastic glasses. The staff know all inclusive guests don't tip every time they have a drink like some guests so don' lift a leg to help you.!!! I would sack the lot !!! don't go!!! 3rd all inclusive stay in Majorca in last 2 years and definately our only bad experience. THB Terrible Hotel Barstaff is off our list of places to go back to. Weather was great for time of year.

“Hotel dated but clean, food was excellent, great for short break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2009

We had a short break of 3 nights to celebrate 2 birthdays (myslef & husband and 2 friends). The service in the hotel was very good bearing in mind there were not very many guests (predominantly German). The room was clean although dated, but fine for the short break. The location was excellent only 10mins from the airport in taxi, and buses to Palma short walk down the road, as was the beach. We stayed on All Inclusive basis and found the food excellent, the bar staff were helpful and friendly with good range of drinks.

“The Hotel Maria Isabel Majorca”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2008

Myself and Husband + with another couple stayed at the Hotel Maria Isabel from 19th Jan 2008 to 23 Jand 2008.

The room we stayed in was very small on the 6th floor, even thou it was clean our bath was rusty and did not look very inviting to have a bath in.

The lifts were a nightmare we could always get a lift going up but found it very hard to get one to take us down, most of the time we had to walk down 8 flights of stairs to the reception area.

We stayed on halfboard basis, breakfast was ok (just) but the evening meal we just could not eat it, the food was very bland and had to eat elsewhere.

The only good thing was location it was very close to the beach.

“Great Views, Good Tourist Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2007

The hotel is not glamourous but very clean and in a great location. Only a few blocks walking distance and you are on the beach. Lots of souvenir shops, restaurants and small grocery shops in the vicinity also. There is a public bus (1.10 Euro) within 2 blocks walking distance that will take you into downtown Palma. Many of the restaurants/grocery shops near the hotel provide German fare (beer/wursts/schnitzel).

Many businesses were closed for the season/holidays. We were there over Christmas.

At check in the front desk clerk informed us that they would be keeping our passports overnight for a security check (sent to police station). I was not pleased about this and told the desk that we would take the passports directly to the police if necessary but they could not keep the documents overnight. The clerk then agreed to take the passports immediately to the police and return them within the hour. We agreed and the passports were back within the hour. Definately advise photocopying your passports and keep the copies with you in case you need them.

Our room was on the 7th floor and there was a fabulous view of the ocean and surrounding mountains. It had two single beds (very firm) and a large bathroom (European Standards). There was also a nice balcony. No frills but CLEAN!

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Most speak Spanish, German and English. There were bicycle rentals, car rentals, tours etc. that could be booked directly at the hotel. Highly recommend renting a car (35 Euro including insurance, must show drivers license and passport) and driving the route along the west coast from Palma to Soller. The road and views are spectacular.

Food was good. Salad Bar and a decent selection of hot items for dinner. Dessert was not fancy but available. Breakfasts had all the usual fare: bread, cereal, eggs, yoghurt, some variety of chorizo, cold cuts, fruit, juice, coffee, tea. The elevators are VERY BUSY during dinner hours...sometimes best just to walk down a few flights of stairs. Breakfast served 8-10 and dinner 7-9. Our flight left before regular breakfast hours and we were allowed into the dining room early to get coffee/toast/cold hard boiled eggs/fruit/cereal/NO HOT ITEMS etc.

There is a bar that serves Hamburgers and snack foods.

The Hallenbad was not very big but kept at a pleasant temperature for swimming. At the time of our stay the sauna was 6 Euro/ person per day. Advise the front desk 1/2 hour before use so they can heat it up. You must walk outside to get to the building with the indoor pool.

The outdoor pool was too cold for swimming and only had ladders to get in and out (no stairs). Plenty of lounge chairs available.

Overall a good experience and perfect for tourists. The crowd was generaly "gray hair" during our stay. Definately not a "romantic" getaway or "luxury" vacation or "wellness" vacation.

  • Liked — Great views from upper floors and location
  • Disliked — Hard Beds / No swimming in Indoor or Outdoor Pool after 6 pm!

“Excellent views from upper floors”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2006

We previously stayed at a number of hotels in the vicinity, but due to the fact that more and more hotels close for winter, we had to look out for a new spot ...
The THB Maria Isabel usually does not close during winter; it is a 14-storey building with 12 floors of rooms. We stayed there on 2 occasions within one month each time at the 10th floor.

VIEWS:
While all rooms offer views into direction of the sea (400 yds away), our rooms (#1002 and 1003) had stunning views of the sea, of Palma harbour (partial view) and parts of the airport. Using good binoculars we could spend hours on our balcony watching boats, ferries and lots of planes !
Balconies also give some shelter from winds.
No other highrise buildings within 500 yds or so.

ROOMS:
Rooms are sized medium to large for a hotel built around 1970.
Bathroom is okay and on the spacious side. Walls are fairly thick.

RESTAURANT:
Always busy, even if the hotel is not fully booked. Quality of food is average (this is a 3-star property); selection is not too big, but okay.

SERVICE:
Overall, I would rate it as "Attentive".
As the area the hotel is in, is "territory" of german (-speaking) tourists, all "frontline"-staff we encountered spoke german very well.

REMARKS:
There are (only) 3 elevators and one of them has a persisting problem with overloading. During the rush for dinner, prepare for some waiting times in front of the elevators (or use the stairs ...)

CAR PARKING:
There is a small car park in front of the hotel and also nearby streets are okay to park your (rental) car.

POOL:
The outdoor pool is filled with salt water. Ladders into the pool can be tricky, especially for elderly people: We had to "rescue" a lady that couldn`t get out of the water; steps were much to high and handles were slippery.
Pool area is fair in size and well shielded from the street; sunbeds are free; no towels available.

  • Liked — The stunning views from the balconies (upper floors).
  • Disliked — Restaurant can get very busy; not enough tables.
  • Tips/Secrets — Try to get into the upper floors! The higher the better!
