“Alright for short stays”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

The Java Hotel is located very close to the beach and the sea, it is just a short walk away. If the weather is bad also the Palma Aquarium is in walking distance. It's also not too far away from the airport and the Palma City center. Directly opposite of the hotel there is a bus stop with a bus taking you directly to Palma.
The hotel is clean and the food is alright, but not outstanding. The staff is nice and there is an animation program almost every day.
All in all, the price-quality relation is ok, but to have a really great vacation a different hotel might be the better choice.

“Average/could do better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

There was nothing really to complain about here but they could do better on many fronts. Firstly the room was fairly basic, houskeeping was a bit lax as the bathroom was not cleaned properly. The food was edible but not great and the staff were slow to clear away from the tables. The bar service was slow and on a busy evening undermanned. I stayed at the end of the season so perhaps everyone was a bit tired. The clientelle is international with Germans being the most numerous here. This is a budget hotel and I suppose we should not expect too much. The hotel has bus stops right outside and is a short walk fron the sea front and the Palma Aquarium which is worth a visit. The general area is ok and has a few bars, restaurants and shops within a short distance from the hotel. Though near to the airport, there was no appreciable aircraft noise.

“Near the beach and convenient for buses”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

I thought this was a perfectly OK package-holiday hotel. Good points are that it's just a couple of minutes' walk from the beach and nearly all rooms have a sea view, that the rooms are a reasonable size and adequately furnished, there's a good-sized pool, and the buffet meals were fine. And there's a bus-stop right outside with frequent buses into Palma. Downsides were that the entertainment was a bit hit-and-miss, that the only television ptogrammes were in German, Spanish and Italian (and the bedroom television was too small for comfortable viewing) and the bathroom was very small. I don't know how they thought anyone would be able to use the bidet (see pictures). But generally - OK.

“Its ok if you don't expect much from a hotel”

Just got back from a week at the Hotel Java - we were transferred there from the Alexandra d'Or who had overbooked, so don't book there or you will be disappointed like us. The room was OK but no tea-making or fridge. Restaurant really let the hotel down. The food was usually cold when it should have been hot, the staff had to be searched for and then they were miserable, the timing of groups meant that it was quite a fight to get around the buffet table. The bar staff were very condescending and the entertainment was terrible, so we had to go out at night. Not much joy there either. Palma was the only decent place to go.

Room Tip: Ask for a room looking over the pool unless you want to get to sleep early. The entertainment is ve...

we had a great stay, at hotel java, Hotel spotlessly clean, staff pleasant and helpful at all times, central location, Can pastilla is a very quiet resoert, just a few English bars, as all of the playa de Palma area right along to arenal is mostley German, so hotel food and Bars reflect this, but it was not a problem lovely Spanish restuaants nearby java,. the 'Prime Kitchen' on the can Pastilla promenade, they do a great ' help yourelf buffet menu for 14e per person, and the best steak around has got to be the family run 'Rompeolas Steakhouse' Playa de Palma on the main road where buses go from can Pastilla along to Arenal. FOOD IS COOKED ON OPEN WOOD FIRE , YOU MAY HAVE A BIT OF A WAIT BUT WELL WORTH IT,, Beaches are fantastic. and dont bother getting a taxi from airport as no 21 bus runs every half hour and costs 2 euros, its only 10 mins journey..
best steak i have had in a long while
