I took my mom here for a 3 night getaway over Easter. Majorca was the cheapest last min destination, and though we knew the weather wasnt going to be tropical over Easter - and it certainly wasn't we just wanted somewhere to relax for a few days with a bit of sunshine. And relax we did. We found cabellero extremely stress free. 10 mins from the airport in a taxi - max cost 15Euros, in our room within 15 mins and ready to explore within mins of checking in. We met with a lukewarm reception as most of the staff at Cabellero dont speak great English - we later discovered that the hotel is catered almost soley for Germans and Elderly Spanish people - so 2 British females seemed a little bit of an inconvenience to them, though we plodded on quite easily with one or two essential Spanish Phrases and some makeshift sign language - which the staff were fine with.
We went full board expecting drinks included too - mixing this up with all inclusive. DRINKS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN FULL BOARD. Which was a bit of a pain and the bar staff out of season were not really on the ball. In fact there were times when we felt we were inconveniencing them slightly by asking for a cocktail.
There is no real nightlife locally and the hotel entertainment consisted of Late night elderly bingo and a bit of ballroom dancing. My mother and I are under 50 years of age, so this didnt appeal much. IN saying that, we werent really going for a 'mad one' - merely a relaxing time, so this was fine. We did manage to find a great indoor annex about 15 mins walk up the beach which is again aimed at Germans but a lot of fun where there are Beir keller- like dancing girls and hundreds of people drinking yards of ale and having a good time. This was the highlight of our entertainment.
Though the weather was not really warm enough to sun bath - warm but cold winds - there is a lovely, clean, outdoor pool and a heated indoor one, which we mostly used. The beach is 2 mins walk and very clean. We were gutted it was too cold to swim in. There are various restaurants near by that do a selection of Italian and Spanish food, and there is a burger king and Mcdonalds along the beach for those who are squemish with Garlic.
The food in the hotel is ok. They provide a decent selection, and if you like bread and meat you will be delighted. We paid full board, but the dinner was usually the most uninspiring, so half board would have suited us better. We decided to eat out 2 of the 3 nights in the evening.
All in all we found it convenient, clean, hospitable, quiet and more importantly- good value for money - Not sure if it will be the same all year around, but we said that in season we would find it perfect as we wouldnt spend much time in the hotel anyway.
