“disappointed”

Stayed here from 7th January for 7 days First impressions were good enough Nice airy reception area and efficient receptionist We had asked for upper floor pool view which she said we were getting We had to go out a side door around the back of a building and up a narrow stairs to get to our apartment Absolutely no privacy from the apartment next door the verandas were open to each other so we spent a lot of time with the blinds drawn To view the pool we had to stand on the veranda and lean out and to our left We got no sunshine or light of any kind into the apartment for the full 7 days so we never stood or sat on the veranda at any time The apartment was cold and we had to turn on the rings on the stove for some kind of heat and keep jumpers and jackets on us at all times The shower was a disgrace in this day and age You had to turn it on and get wet then turn it off and wash yourself and then turn it back on again to rinse off This was the only was to ensure you had enough hot water to wash the soap off Then you had to wait at least 45minutes before the second person could shower My husband used to boil a kettle of water to have a shave while he was waiting The PAY TV was another joke in the year 2012 It cost €1.50 for an hour or €3 for the day That was an extra €21 for the week Because the apartment was so bad we didn't use any of the other facilities within the facility so I cant comment on anything else

Room Tip: We stayed in room 273 so avoid

“Not as bad as some of the reviews”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

My husband and I stayed in these apartments for 2 weeks from New Years Eve to Jan 14th 2012, they are not as bad as some of the reviews, provided you are not fussy, they could do with a good spring clean. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment, which was quite spacious, I would imagine they were quite nice in their time, but they could certainly do with updating. The bed was only changed once in the 2 weeks. Towels should be placed in the bath or they will not be changed. The rooms are quite cold at this time of the year, but I could imagine in the height of summer with no air conditioning they would be far to hot. The staff are quite friendly, the entertainment was not good, but we went out every night so it didnt bother us. The apartments are in a good location, just turn right walk for about 5 minutes pass a couple of restaurants and a Spa supermarket (which is the cheapest of the 3 on that road) . You will come to a shopping centre, pass this, and carry on walking until you reach the Old Town. Cross over the road and turn left and this will bring you into the New Town. Facing the Hotel is a couple of bars, a take away and a Restaurant, we used to go into the Caz Bar on the end where a lot of locals seem to drink, the Bar Staff are really friendly, all in all the Hotel was just OK, but we wont be returning.

“Stayed 9 days then moved.”

First day great loved the place and location. Rooms very, very basic and dirty to be honest. Only had room cleaned once in 9 days and towels changed twice along with bedding after going to reception 6 times ( please note this was in Aug 2011. I forgot to do this review ).

The 8th night I heard something under the fridge and it ran out into the bedroom ( Cochroach as big as they get ) . Killed it and asked for the room to be sprayed. Never happened so went and bought a spray. Did the room to find 4 more dead around the place. Packed backs went to another hotel at my cost. The appartments at the back 2 bed are crap and dont get cleaned. You have been warned and for all the good reviews I would say they have been very lucky.
I do believe the rooms near the pool get the best service and treatment but the service when you have a problem is very poor.

Room Tip: Pool side or forget it

Dear Customer,

First of all, we apologize for incidents during your stay and we inform you that we have taken note so that these are not repeated. In the hotels / apartments of the RIVERSUN Touristic group we make every effort to ensure that our customers enjoy a perfect vacation, in all senses, we treat all our guests equally well, being our main objective and the one all our efforts are directed, regardless of the room they got assigned.

Referring to your comments about cockroaches, we would like to point out that all the complexes of our group have a contract with a company which is in charge of fumigation and pest extermination control periodically, as we are aware that due to climate in the canary islands it's necessary. Even when the complex is fumigated periodically to control this insects it's impossible to avoid that some come from outside the apartment thru windows, thing that happens very rarely.

Yours sincerely,

Commercial Department / RIVERSUN TOURISTIC

Just got back from 1 week here loved it rooms basic but very clean and you who are moaning you get what you pay for so if you want the ritz pay for it if not this is brill for the price, beds are comfortable and clean, bath room clean and big, grounds peaceful even with 2 kids :) pool was cold again if you don't like cold water don't go in,kids loved it so I did. It's in a great location 15 euro in a taxi from airport and short walk to both old and new town. With the hill I was expecting everest IT'S NOT THAT bad fella made it up every night with child on shoulders :) there is a park for the kids and tennis courts not much entertainment for kids but hay it was new year, all in all a brill place and yes I would go back.

Room Tip: With kids go for 2 bed apartment as 1 bed not big enough,if a couple wanting cheap and cheerful then...

“Clean and friendly”

Stayed here for five nights in September 2011 and don't see what some people are on about. It took us a while to check in but that was down to indecisive people in front of us, when we did get to check in the man on reception was friendly and cheerful explaining the safe and giving us a map to help find the apartment (did get slightly lost as the map didn't explain there were front and back apartments) when we did locate it we were pleasantly surprised..it was spacious and clean..two single beds which we pushed together and a lot of space for al our luggage. The drains at certain times did smell abit especially in the bathroom and noticed it when the apartment above flushed their toilet! Our apartment was literally a step away from the pool which was fine when we sat on the porch area but had to keep the curtains closed throughout the day as people would be sunbathing right outside our bedroom window. There was enough cups, plates etc for the two of us but we did get a bit stuck when trying to open a tin can with no opener & trying to ask at recpetion was like bangn you head against a wall as the receptionist only spoke spanish but was friendly and tried to help as best he could..On the second night people moved into the above apartment and we didnt sleep for the rest of the time there as the ceiling was very thin & could here everything that they did including rearranging the furniture constantly at random times in the morning & ringing their doorbell which was so loud in our apartment we thought the fire alarm was going off! we were going to complain but didnt want to make a fuss...Theres a store across the road and a little convience one right next to the hotel which were great and cheap spar just around the corner..ate in town mostly & found some lovely restaurants especially one just round the corner (think it was called oreillys) run by english family extremely lovely, an food amazing! went to the beach most days as found at peak times pool got a bit crowded but didnt mind as the beach was gorgeous (sand is extremely hot and got blisters on my toes) The apartment was cleaned everyday with the bins being emptied did buy some washing up liquid though to wash own plates etc as we tended to run out of clean ones by the evening.Very friendly receptionist who spoke 5 languages helped book a trip to the volcano which was amazing to see at sunset. We were late checking out but the receptionist was extremely understanding and let us finish packing and let us leave our stuff at the reception desk while we could still use the pool.Theres a pool table and a tennis court but didnt use them while we stayed there the hotel grounds are very pretty and clean and would definitely stay again
